I'm a musician, so maybe it's from a different viewpoint. It's not particularly liking 'an artist or band' it's liking the music, or melody, or lyric. The whole history of the thing.. I'm going to Metallica but I've also been to Gemma Hayes, Mick Flannery, The Frames, Aslan, AC!DC, Pearl Jam, Ray LaMontagne, Jools Holland, Florence and The Machine, Rudimental, Faithless, Bell X1, The Dubliners, Megadeth, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, Rod Stewart, Something Happens, U2 (yes I love Bad, Fuck ye if you can't appreciate it ), Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Guns n Roses, Mamas Boys, Accept, Steve Earle, Shanty Dam, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Vintage Trouble, Steve Winwood, Aretha Franklin, BB King, Ellie Goulding and many others.
Now if that's not a fairly broad musical taste, I don't know what you're looking for.

Well, my list is longer than I put there but in the nutshell I like heavy metal, a bit of punk, rock, jazz, classical, R'n'B, bit of techno from the 90' (very good music for workouts) and oldies...
