Please discuss"

Yes, I used to teach this. It is very useful, as it instills a defensive state of mind in the student. It has saved me three times in my life from attack. But, for school kids, the best method of defence might be to run away, or be aware of danger, and avoid dangerous situations. |

Avoid shouldn't meant being not prepared
In my opinion every girl and woman should know how behave and what to do in the worst scenario for us... Calm down and using anything we can do for self defence.
It could be high heel shoes, hairspray, deodorant spray or a gun.
Secondly, we should educate children what is and what isnt acceptable. No means NO. She might stands naked beside you and you still dont have a right to touch her. Simple!

There is no perfect form of self defense.
Learn boxing and a kick boxer will beat you, learn kick boxing and muai thai will beat you and it goes on and on.
Even MMA in ufc style is a joke of a self defence. The interesting ones all use weapons.
Saying that, they are good to learn for other reasons. Confidence, being able to spot aggressive behaviour and avoid, etc.
Also systema is better than krav maga, but krav maga is easier to learn and find teachers of. |

I know. Most important is preparing people mentally for the situation. Once you calm down you might be little tiny lady like me and still be able even kill the intruder or rapist |

There is a part in krav maga/systema where they get a man in full body armour to attack you and get you to hit them as hard as you can. A lot of people are not mentally prepared to hit someone as hard as they can, even when their life is in threat. |

Believe me, some women can kill without even being trained. All depends how strong mentally she is and what kind of situation it is... |

This is so true , I did karate for a few years as a teenager, and I remember our teacher showing us moves such as how to gauge someone in the eyes when being attacked , and it was just so hard to get your head round doing it if you needed to . Of course these days life has made me bitter and angry and there’s some days when I just wish someone would try and mug me so I can beat the shit out of them |

First rule in any martial art is: defence only if you have been attacked. Never use it as a revenge. |

I have to say though in all seriousness, since having a child , I honestly would kill anyone if they did anything to harm her . I don’t know how the parents of kids who’ve been abused don’t burn the perpetrators house down with them in it . I really would want revenge , I wouldn’t care about the consequences |

Whatever form of self defense is practiced, in all, the underlying principles are to do with discipline, mental and then physical. Always a good thing to teach children in. |

Our whole family studies Taekwondo, self defence is a huge part of this.
If someone attacks you, our your family or even a person in public you can use reasonable force to protect any of the above. The gender of the attacker doesn’t matter however a man defending himself against a female attacker can find himself being attacked by other men.
Reasonable force = enough to let you get away.
I’m 100% for self defence. |

I do BJJ and have for quite a few years, Regards self defence BJJ is focused more on Discipline and mental health with emotional development and decision making.
In the aspects of Self defence in BJJ can be a very thin line with defending yourself or putting someone in a c.hoke and killing them. |

You can only use reasonable force to defend yourself and if you're a trained martial artist you would be expected to only use it to get yourself out of a situation not to beat the shite out of your attacker. There's training you can get that that's not a martial art. It's basically how to defend and restrain an attack without assaulting them it was developed for psychiatric nurses. |

Why are people saying you're not allowed defend yourself?
Did a new case happen?
Up until recently the situation was.
1) You dont have to flee an attacker, the attacker must flee
2) You can defend yourself from verbal assault with force.
3) The amount of force you use is 100% up to you in that moment, if you feel your life is in danger you can kill them.
The lad got away with beating up 3 black lads with a shovel etc. |

Rule 1 = Recognise. Recognise the nature of the threat . Is it a real threat?. Are there weapons / knives guns involved?. How many ppl are involved ?. Are they d*unk? Is it a case of fisticuffs?. Do you think ur gonna get killed ?. I could go on. Recognising the nature of any threat should guide what is to happen next.
Rule 2 - Avoid. The simplest way to negate any threat is to just avoid it. ( cue lots of macho bullshit). Walk away. Don’t get involved. In extremis it could be 10 against 1. You gonna stand there and fight or you gonna quickly look for an escape route and run like fuck?
Rule 3 - React. If you really have to do something to protect yourself, react . You will have recognised the nature of the threat so you should have some idea of what you need to do. But don’t do nothing because that’s too late and before you know it you will be on the floor and then it’s game over. Most people with no training will think about throwing punches whereas there are numerous other things U can do which will be far more effective. This is where training comes in. Knowing vulnerable points and how they can be simply and easily stacked to disable an attack and cause extreme pain without too much personal risk. Some clues; eyes, shins; feet, nose , neck , windpipe, solar plexus, groin, temple, ears, kneecaps, fingers, toes.

I’d never restrain, because there is rarely just the one. A quick strike and I’m outta there. |
