Reasonably happy. Hoping the book (whenever we finally get it!) will flesh the story out better. There are characters, (one in particular) that I love in the books, but disliked in the TV series purely because the acting was so wooden, so from that point of view I was disappointed. Not by the ending itself, but in the telling of it. |

I haven't watched it yet, will watch it tonight, though reading reviews on other sites many people seem very disappointed.
Personally I don't think this last series has been great, maybe I let the build up and hype get to me too much,as I never watched the first seven series when they were first aired, and only got round to watching them on a box set over the last year.

Thought it was decent enough. Both last season and this should have been told over the usual 10 episodes. Some of the storylines and developments were very rushed and badly handled.
Still pretty good...but it was never gonna match fans expectations. |

"Maybe she isnt gone
Maybe she will come back like Jon did
Maybe Jon got what he wanted,to be free
Maybe they left it open to make some more series or movies "
It did feel like they were leaving it open for the possibility of a few spin-offs down the line. Particularly in relation to Arya and Jon as their endings were also beginnings, whereas Sansa and Bran's stories were neatly tied up and finished. |

Think they made an absolute balls off it to be honest. The whole season was a disaster. Over looked the writing and character development for the big spectacle. Even made a balls of that in the 3rd episode. Most expensive episode of TV ever made and couldn't see a thing. Think once it overtook the books it lost it. It all just felt pointless or something for a finish. Should have left the fans write the last season. The theory's online were better than the actual show |

"Hated the last episode.. very dull ending to a great series...
Sansa went north
Aria went west
Bran to the east
And the whole series went south!!"
Is it just me or did Bran become the most irritating person ever in the final season? The acting was woeful... He tried to give the role gravitas but it came off as wooden and completely grated on my nerves every time he opened his mouth. |

"I was so disappointed
Yeah I’ve got to agree; bitterly disappointed to think we actually waited a full year for that "
Really disappointed, it was so cheesy. I wanted her to order the dragon to toast Jon Snow and then he would walk out of the flames a true Targarian!! |

I wanted that too. So much could of been done to make a excellent last season but instead the butchered it by rushing through the last 2 episodes.. |

"It ended the way it had.
There was no happy ending to this.
They planted the seed for democracy.
"
It was poorly written and rushed!
Can you loan Kaizer your time machine so he can travel back to the year time forgot, 2011!
Two words of advice - "don't bother" |

I agree. I think also the nobles' reaction to Sam's suggestion that everyone get a vote was D&D responding to audience suggestions that the show would end with democracy being introduced in Westeros. It would be just too big a change of regime in a feudal, brutal system. However, as you say, this was a beginning, instead of primogeniture/succession. |

Not overly happy with the last episode. Left so many questions unanswered, but then again, im finding it harder to distinguish the shows from the books. Plots from both are a bit mixed up in my head. But I guess it wasn't the worst last episode of a show that I've ever seen. |

"Last 2 seasons were utter dogshit such lazy writing for previously well fleshed out characters..totally dissapointed"
Exactly but there was at least 5 shocking seasons. Lazy writting, rushed plots!
There was 3 good episodes out of the whole series! And please dont get Kaizer started on the Night King |

I was so dissapointed with the ending, it just seems the screen writers gave up and did an easy ending not even so much as a smart comment from Tormund in the last scene! |

Whatever about the show, never was anywhere near a amazing are the books.
So I'm just hoping George R R Martin gets the final 2 books finished before he's six feet under. Cause he's pushing on in years, and he's a slow writer but he's own admission.

In fairness to the screenwriters, the first 5 or 6 seasons were epic because they had actual books to read and work from. Fully developed characters to bring to life, battles to depict, and grand adventures to bring to the screen. But then Martin stopped publishing and all they had to work with were plot outlines. They suddenly had to script how these characters would grow up, interact with each other and react to situations. They didn't have that wealth of nuanced narrative and conversation in the books to draw on and quote from, but still had to produce fully formed scripts in the same time frame. Is anyone really surprised that the last few seasons felt rushed? |

I was very disappointed.... I felt season 8 went out of charachter with the previous 7 seasons and the last episode was a let down.
I can see where some people liked it but if you think this is the final season and episode and you ask people whats the best battle??
Will it be 2 of the major battles of season 8 or is it still Battle of the Bastards??? Says it all really! |

So disappointed! Not enough questions answered, so much time invested in side stories that weren't mentioned or forgot about. Not really disappointed with the overall end. Just feel let down! |

Speaking As a 7 star armchair general..The battle with the white walkers was by one of the worst battles you had the best military minds in all of westeros and beyond and the battle plan they had was utter shite..
Light cavalray...charge into the unknowm severely out numbered...
Trepuchets loose one volley to look cool and station them in front of your main force...lets build the fire trench behind our troops while blocking them in and thus..i could go on but above all this lack of logical depth just shows how little the writers think of the actual viewers.. |

All of that was explained. Half the forces they were expecting to fight never turned up and they only found out a day or two before that they were not coming. They were training the people how to fight up till the last hour.
The military plan they came up with was to sacrifice a bulk of the army while drawing a single person into a trap.
That was their whole plan, everyone was going to die until he took the bait. They never even entertained the idea of beating the army, only holding them up as long as possible.
Even the kingslayer resigned himself to the fact that the only thing to do was go and stand outside the wall and die. He never expected to survive. None of them did.
They were clear, super clear that they could not beat the army without the army from the south.
I was watching that battle knowing that their plan was to die until he takes the bait, and watching them get closer and closer to the main people, knowing any main person can die at any time. Knowing that was exactly their plan to die.
You're saying battle of the bastards was tactically better? The leader of your forces run down to face an army on his own? gets his army circled and get saved by forces he didnt even know he had?

Well it was only a light entertainment programme not a documentary . I could rip apart almost any films use of tactics, utility of certain weapons etc etc |

So disappointed.
Its like its like 90% of the individual stories made no sense.
Jon gettting sent back to the wall was lazy writing.
At least Ghost got a smile this time round.
Such a shame to kill a show off in 6 episodes. Episode 2 is the best of the season, felt like being at a wake |

Obviously they werent going to win the battle and yes the plan was to draw the night king in, but they could have a layered defense in depth where each unit could play to its strenghts and mitigate its weaknesses and not be squandered so quickly and give more time to draw the knight king in ..it was so pooly excecuted..and yes battle of the bastards wasnt perfect by any means .. but it had such good elements of realism from the crush to the shield wall |
