I need a new book

What’s the best you have read or suggest a book that’s mind blowing

Examples - papplion, unsung hero

Or best fantasy I’ve read Harry’s and GoTs

Let’s hear it

Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks is very good and well worth picking up.

Really enjoyed the game of thrones series if your into that sort of thing.

Dracula and the Count of Monte Cristo are 2 classics I liked too.

At the moment I’m reading the first book of The Witcher series, so far so good.

Depends on your genre but the kingkiller chronicles or the stormlight archives are top classic fantasy books. Something a little different would be Stephen king's books

Depends on the genre I suppose.

All of Michael Connolly’s are very easy, entertaining reads if you like a little crime. Timur Vermes‘ “look who’s back” is a bit different. Kinda dares you to laugh at something you shouldn’t find funny. Mo Hayder and Chris Brookmyre write some seriously good books too. Way too many good reads out there to pick just one.

If you like fantasy definitely read the Lord of the Rings trilogy the hobbit, alot was left out of the films. For fantastic may not have heard of I'd say give the Kingkiller Chroicles(The name of the wind,a wise mans fear) by Patrick Rothfuss a go very big books but essentially harry potter for adults

Fantasy: any of the Salvatore books are excellent.

Or you could try the dwarves series or some of Feists stuff.

Triller; le Carre, Ludlum or any of the Scandinavian like dragon tattoo etc.

Stand alone single reads try the historian or monument both excellent

I could go on

I have far too may 'favourites' to mention, and in lots of genres, but I've read all Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels countless times. They're so engaging, love everything about them... The subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) political, religious and artistic parodies, the humour, the imagination, the characters

A good old one is The Bone People by Keri Hulme

Seeing as you're on Fab, have a go at Atomised by Michel Houellebecq.

Best book ever is undoubtedly Story Of O, read it on a leather sofa, in a minikirt with no knickers, and report for duty as soon as you're finished...

I dont read often, maybe 20 books in my life. I also pick them totally at random by going into a shop, judging the cover, picking it up, holding it, not reading the back but seeing if I can feel its a good book or not.

So I have no idea how the books I picked and liked stack up in the grand scheme of things.

But

Master and margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov

After Dark - Murakami

Definitely not laughing, that's very serious!

Just started watching Upstart Crow (BBC comedy) on Netflix, good laugh whether you like Shakespeare or not.

One I always remember was called Freckles. A slightly simple minded guy who got to work in a forest and appreciated nature. It was a touching, emotional read, if that's what you're looking for.

Probably hard to find a copy now though

Sharkeys Machine was a much better book than the movie with Burt Reynolds.

Anything by Stephen King but The Dark Half is one of his best. Movie was crap though.
