Time . Have different routes yes but time your runs and keep a record of the times . It helps focus. Helps concentration. Motivates you to improve . Makes it worthwhile . If one day you are slower - why?. But when you see your time is becoming better it will spur you on no end.
Worked for me |

Podcasts are good, new routes as the same route will become standard and you will become use to it and your time will start to drop back. I find music is a good help just listening for the run and then next thing you know its done |

Music in the tempo range is good. Or podcast as others mentioned. I hate running, never enjoyed it even when I was fit so found going in 5 min sets works well for me. It sorta tricks your brain into think it’s least time than it is. It doesn’t work for everyone but without it I’d never get past 5 mins! |

Have your realistic target distance set out before you go and stick to it. Don't concentrate on on time. It takes as long as it takes. Use different routes. Preferably scenic ones. Take roads you never been down. Drive to them otherwise you'll end up sticking to the ones that always start from your house. Yes like everyone said music and podcasts. Comedy podcasts are great.
It gives the impression that you really love running if everyone sees you laughing to yourself as you run along |

Got back into it this yr but mixing it with crossfit. Ive started entering races again that helps with motivation. Join a club or running group. I just run with friends a few times a week and if im on my own its a playlist i really enjoy. Enjoy its great to ne moving |

My tip is don't do it...take up swimming or cross trainer instead. Running on hard surface is lethal for your joints and cartilage....trust me...speaking from experience..Last thing you want is a torn meniscus or hip problems. Stick to low impact cardio. |

Try and get out at the start of the week? What I find is I run and once I start to get tired I will count lamp posts and once I have counted 10 I will walk for maybe 5 then run again, but a play list is a must. I have been running this last 8 weeks and this is my first lazy one and in
Annoyed with myself, will get out in morning, but keep pushing yourself |

Stopped running quite a few yes back after watching a couple friends have bug surgeries due to running injuries. Took up mountain biking instead. Different but got me outside in the country too. |

Use a sports watch and see if you can improve your times. Keep the breathing constant |

No point in me giving advice...have always admired runners doing what they do but pounding the road was never my scene so have absolutely no experience in road running...but gimme a skipping rope ...a classic rock sound blasting out... absolutely bliss for me...LOVE it.. |

I do a lot of running not sure I actually enjoy it. I tend to enter myself into races to keep the motivation there. Unfortunately none of my friends have any interest in running so I'm a lonley goat runner. Defo plan routes and mix them up, try and enjoy the time out in the fresh air by yourself and the great feeling you do get when your back home and relaxing. Great thread btw |
