Bebo and myspace were the future of social media...
Aertel was a great way to source information (remember following football scores live waiting on the screen to update )
Buying call cards to use public phone boxes to call people
Using the yellow pages to find a number for someone..
Renting a video out of Xtravision was something really exciting..
You had to put a deposit on a shopping trolly to force you return it before the coin unlock system (£10, might have just been a rough neighbourhood i was in)
Crazy Prices was grocery chain and KVI was the cheap brand...

Ha yeah we rented our family TV for years. Madness when you look back on it now when most people have massive tvs in every room these days. |

I was flooring our loft over the last few weeks and in one of my treasure (junk) boxes I found my old Sony hard disc walkman. This was the future of music storage...for about three months .
It took me two weeks to find software and convert it all back to mp3 from Sony's own software which one can't use anymore but I know have all my old music stored on my phone and a ish key for my car. I love Spotify and streaming but this was a blast from my stone age past |

Anything by The Kooks in that box of vinyl?
And on topic having to take a film to the chemist to get it developed before seeing if any of your photos were of any use. |

- We had a total of 6 channels on tv .
yet our cousins in the country only had RTE1 & 2
- Bought my first vinyl album called
Now That's What I Call Music 1
- My best mates mum used to wear leg warmers
and did aerobics (she was hot too ...not as much these days though)
- Holidays were to the carivan park in Courtown
- Sodastream was all the rage as well as a ZX Spectrum (which took 10 bolldy minutes to load a game)
- You never missed a show like THE A-TEAM, MACGYVER & KNIGHT RIDER as few had a video recorder...
- Bosco sold more records than U2 one year too!

The incredibly baggy clothes of the mid 90's. Petro Motion jeans with the back pockets almost behind your knees.
The American sports teams gear, again, baggy as fuck.
I still have a San Jose Sharks top that I got in '93 and it's even way too big for me today |

Wham bars were really sour and fizzy
And The Sullivan’s was on daily at lunchtime. Saturday nights we all watched The Generation Game and HiDiHi together as a family and no mobile phones or devices in sight.
Madness Ub40 and Bob Marley we’re legends and lads carried around lumps of Lino and ghetto blasters |

Anymore to add " well remember when the pokemon craze went on not one person I saw that didn't like Pokémon weather it was the cards or the games or just watching the show and it was easy to get into girls good books if you had a pikachu card you get popular very quick lol |

Anybody do the 3 rings when you were ready to be collected by your parents. Use the call box to ring home, let the phone ring 3 times and hang up. Didn’t cost a penny. |

I miss when you got a new pair of “branded” trainers and when you wore them out for the first time you did it nonchalantly but secretly hoping your mates would notice and say how magnificent they were and how much they cost whilst you had a peek to make sure yours were better than theirs. And god forbid the day you got a bit of mud on them !!! |

Adjusting the aerial of the black and white rented TV with one station and huge rotary dial for volume, RTE and the day we could get HTV wow!!
Our first owned black and white TV and the way we had to use cardboard to hold the channel buttons in a certain position to get the the best reception.
Our orange and cream record player and the day my sister bought her first single which she played all day.

Remembering the night when it was late; Tv had finished .... the test card was about to come on the screen.... it was a black and white tiny portable tv on a chair next to my teenage bed ( what a luxury - I had the second tv !!) , the screen was blank ..... the TV announcer was saying “and that concludes our programmes for tonight.....oh- and we have just received the news that the King is dead. Elvis Presley has died . Goodnight.” . Cue test card on screen and that was that . What did he just say ?. Elvis was dead - WTF ?. No 24 hr news. No Internet - just a quick throwaway mention before the blackboard girl faced ya |

Wham bars , meanies,
Desperate Dans,
Fat frogs, wheelies,
Super cans,
DipDab, double dips,
What about mint crisps ?
Paper rounds, climbing trees,
Bumpy heads and bloody knees,
A carefree life, no adult strife,
No arsehole husband or nagging wife,
Each generation with rose tinted glasses,
Boys were boys and lasses were lasses,
So as the world turns and life becomes stranger,
Once upon a time you were the danger,
While it's nice to look back,
To look back in the past,
Live life in the moment
Or life passes fast.
