Just wondering what all of you think. Is it up to the guys to make first contact on here or is this place more liberal in that it can be a women or guys or couples who break the ice so to say .....  |

Given the ratio of men to women and the men mostly think with their member, it will usually be men that make the first contact and in some cases the 2nd 3rd and 4th unsolicited contact. No means no after all... I think the key is to be respectful and witty. If you don't get a response then just take it on the chin and move on. Well I'm my opinion anyways |

If I didn’t make the first contact I would wait for weeks for messages ( except the lovely women on the forum who contacted me in the last few days - u know who u are x) |

I have no preconceptions of how it should be. I think a lot of women fear that men will think they're guaranteed the ride if the lady messages first and that's probably a case with some of the idiots around here. Some of us and converse without presuming we're getting the ride automatically. |

I've got a few first messages from ladies but with most of them I never got the impression they wanted to meet. More like a comment on a forum post I made or some random question.
Had a few conversations that kept going for a while but they ended up going nowhere as I'm not too keen on traveling long distances and local women don't seem to want to talk to me  |

I would have thought that in modern day Ireland and this being a swing site with open minded people it wouldn't come down to old fashioned values of waiting for the guys to make the first move ..... am I being nieve here or what  |

I don't think it's a matter of waiting for guys to make the first move... There's no waiting... Guys just do it. But they may not be the guys you want. I think over time women get wise to this. They start using their filters better to cut out contact from the ones they're most definitely not interested in, and use a combination of picking through the mail they still get, and actively searching for people who match their preferences to find exactly what they want. This is where having a great profile helps. It's one thing to mail people and hope your message and profile are interesting enough to get a reply... Its quite another to have a profile good enough to inspire someone to make first contact |

If I see something I like I have no problem making first contact. I think you can’t really complain about only getting mails from those you don’t find desirable if your not willing to make the effort.
