Ok, it's time to buy a new tool, I badly need the above. Any recommendations and tips where to buy? Not looking for a cheap lidl or Aldi toy version, it has to last for a good while. Budget up to 250.

Got a really decent makita there before Xmas for 200, think was b&q

Makita, Milwaukee, DeWalt and Ryobi can't go wrong with any of the four of them

I use Makita tools exclusively. If they're good enough for the International Space Station they're good enough for me.

If you're building a DIY sex toy it might be a bit overkill if you'll excuse my choice of words!

Panasonic every day. Quality quality quality and good price. Had both mine for over 15 yrs, some heavy heavy use and only ever had to replace a couple batteries.

Ive had a few different makes with business, Makita, Ryobi, Skil, Bosch all have had mechanical issues, gears, hammer, switches etc.

Panasonic not an issue, 18 v and 24v.

Maybe newer ones might not be as good.

Thanks for all the tips, Makita seems to be the most mentioned. Now have something to base my research on. Also will check out the websites suggested Any stand on electronic brake? Good thing to have on the drill?

On a side note, i know it's a swingers site, but knowing there's all professions in here, no better place to ask the pros. Got good tips before for other tools.

And no, I won't use it for anyrhing else than what it is meant for. Different drills for different purposes is my credo.

This maybe true but an impact driver is completely different anamal when driving large screws or nuts. A combi drill just won't keep up.

So buy a impact driver if your going to be using the tool seriously for driving.

if your a weekend warrior get the combi drill. But don't spend too much on it as cheep one will do. As they combi drills are more suited to drilling and driving small screws.

Stopped buying anything other than dewalt in work. We had to return to many units. Also buying anything from B&G woddies etc means you are paying 30% over the odds. The deals you see inside the door are a joke. Look at caufields and try searching for dewalt combi impact xr. Normally get two 4mh batteries with the two drills for about €300. Treat them well with heavy domestic use and they will last you ten years.

Sorry if I missed it. What's the drill for?

I'm a blue Bosch man first but I've used lots of tradesman calibre standard.

If it's to drill 6mm holes in block a drill with a plug from aldi will do. Its then down to good drill bits.

If your putting down decking you need to up your game. That's a combi drill and to half the time have an impact drill set up and use both. One for drilling one for screwing.

If it's for masonry as well as just driving screws you need a hammer action not impact. Impact is just better for driving screws home or removing stubborn fixings but not for drilling block walls.

Most smaller hand held 18v drills have hammer action but it's not great, all right for drilling an odd hole in a block wall for a rawl plug if it's just a bit if DIY.

Makita, Dewalt, Hitachi, Mikwaukee are all good tools only thing to watch for is the cheaper 1's only come with a 1.3/5 Ah battery which won't last pissing time drilling plastered block you need at least a 4ah battery but drills with more powerful batteries tend to cost between €300-€400 and you get 2 sometimes 3 battries, you pick up the kits with the 1.3/5 Ah batteries for about €120 but you only get 1 battery

Now, the only thing I'm wondering, is if this new purchase is being used for its intended purpose, or something kinky?

I wouldn't spend that money on some weird kinky experiment while there are plenty of nice cocks out there to ride. "

But none with the staying power of your new combi drill

I’m not. It’s clearly for hammering in nails.

Not sure if that's a complement!

Hammering nails with a drill. In not sure what level of humour that is. Are you saying she will use a drill to bang in nails?

Forgive my banal attempt at satire.

A combi drill is a device that both drills (usually standard and hammer) and also has low speed high torque settings for driving in screws.

where ever

Festool all the way, theres no substitute....

But I make fine furniture, if I were on site possibly makita.

Milwaukee are now Chinese made, dewalt Mexican.

Back in the days of black and white Elu ( swiss made tools) were my only choice.

I still have a 177e and a biscuit jointer that work perfectly 30 years on. I bought two 177 dewalts 1/2" routers just in case my Elu ever failed and both of them are burnt out and lying in the graveyard section of my workshop. Neither of which are worth repairing cost wise.

Looking forward to getting the new festool sitesaw when this covid thing ends...
