Well, a plus one isn't like the rules of a competition where "family members need not apply" You can bring anyone you want.... S
So whoever gave you hassle is hardly a friend so "screw them" (in a non Fab sense)
Bringing your mum shows that you've a good relationship with your mum & not everybody can say that...
Fair play to you |

Being from a big family I’ve had to attend many a family wedding as my mums plus one. Weddings are great craic as everyone’s there for a good time and to be honest I actually like them, so much so I’ve even been a plus one for a friend |

I don't understand why you got flack.
Surely a few of them knew your mum and even more knew you weren't currently in a relationship.
No reason for anyone to have an issue with that.f
Feck the begrudgers and I see you had a hangover today so, must have been good craic regardless |

Long funny story but my friend was bridesmaid and just split from her boyfriend. I knew 1 other person at the wedding and ended up sitting close to the top table with immediate family of the bride including a married gay uncle who I thought was very nice trying to make me feel welcome until I found out his tastes and that he was chatting me up lol Was still a brilliant wedding. So basically go with who you want and always enjoy And yes to answer I would have gone lol |

Well that all that matters, smiles and creating memories. In fact you need to do that with most things in life, smile and have those around you smile |

Well she could always be the designated driver . Seriously though I don't see a whole lot wrong with bringing your mam, if ye had a good day who gives a shit. Better than bringing some eejit who gets hammered, hits on everything in a dress and makes a show of himself. Your "mates" are probably pissy because you didn't ask them. |
