Slip him a 50 euro and tell him it's his lucky day.....seriously though just relax and get through it,over exaggerate your checking of mirrors and keep both on hand on the wheel...actually the Hardy Bucks have a very funny clip of when Buzz does his driving test and stops for an ice and takes a call while driving. Worth watchign to ease the nerves.Best of luck with it,Im sure it will be fine. |

An important one is the mirrors. Make it obvious to the instructor when you are looking at the mirrors.
Also if you stall the car or make any mistakes don't immediately get into a panic trying to rectify it straight away. Instead count to 3 and take a deep breath then continue.
Also when your car comes to a stop any times, before setting off, or before doing any maneuvers, again count to 3 and take a deep breath.
I found this helped when I did my test and I passed first time.
Try not to overthink it as just remember that in the worst case scenario,even if you don't pass, that it is not the be all end all as you can always repeat the test only.in the next one you would have the experience of already having done a test. Good luck and let us know how you get on. |

Go out early and do the route a few times alone, allows you to make sure there are no silly traffic jams, be wary of cycle lanes on the route, drive confidently and check mirrors check Mirrors check Mirrors check mirrors and if you feel like you made a mistake don’t over think it.. you’ll be grand!! Get a good night's sleep tonight. Have a goid breakfast and make sure you go to the loo before the test.
On the test itself try and stay calm, listen carefully to the examiner, definitely recommend what others have said about head movement when checking mirrors. Also don't forget to check over your shoulder before setting off.
Get at least 30 minutes of driving in before your test to put yourself at ease behind the wheel.

I agree with most of the points already mentioned. I just asked my brother as he is a driving examiner and said if you go to the rsaschoolofmotoring.ie website that you can see the top 10 failure reasons for failing a driving test in Ireland.

If you have a back wiper. That's in the middle of your back widow. Use this for your reverse around the corner. Get that on the top corner of the curb when your reversing. Around the corner .an keep it there An that will be the right space from curb an car you need. Valium if you have one. |

So if your doing your test it's obvious you can drive and feel competent ,to be doing your test. Just relax. Observe with head movements and drive handy ,not too slow |

Mirrors have been pointed out several times. One tip I was given was to move the mirrors slightly so when you look at them you have to move your head a bit.
So if you move the rear view just a bit to the left every time you look into it you will have to turn your headore than normal.
If you do this and the pony tail trick the tester is likely to get whipped repeatedly!!!! That's sure to help. |

Took me 4 tries till I passed mine. Thought I was doing bad until someone I know admitted that it took them 16 tries..
At least you know what to expect next time round x |

Funnily enough the years I spent in the classroom as a teacher were pretty successful. As for being a role model, harder to assess but generally trying to be a tolerant and caring person is the best I can do. |

Type of car can be an issue aswell for some testers.. plain car with plenty of Windows is better than a low sporty car.. |

Book another lesson soon, get back out & practice what you lost points for & book the test as soon as you can. Don't let this fester or you'll be more nervous |
