Flowers 3.99 in shop.

And last time went for meal it was an early bird. Bottle of prosecco on the house. At end of day it's nice to enjoy it with friends even if it's a complete marketing thing

We just ignore it. We can, and do, treat each other throughout the year.

You could probably have the same complaints about Christmas or birthdays even... shouldn’t we all be nice to one another every day but the truth is we’re not always like that.

I’ll buy cards for my kids like I do every year. They know I love them every single day but it’s a nonsense tradition we have and it makes me happy so what’s the harm?

I think I’ll bring cake to work too because why not

You actually go on holidays to avoid Valentine's day? Why?

Enjoy Spain though. Brilliant country. Catalonia and Marbella my favourites

for us its just another day to show each other how much we love each other. something we regularly do throughout the year and another excuse for us to expand our toy collection

People have different ways of communicating love, for some it's flowerywords, for others it's gifts, nights out, for others it may be simple acts like making a cup of tea or taking over at home when a partner is tired, others still it may simply be listening to the person in a meaningful way. So long as it works for that relationship, it doesn't matter what form it takes.

Social pressure to behave in a certain way around these dates can be ignored if you choose to, and if others showing love to their partners bothers you, maybe that's your own issue, what harm are they doing to anyone...

No one's forced to take part so I couldn't give a shit how people choose to spend their money or show their affections.

My first Valentines I ended up in hospital with a chest infection and been heavily pregnant.

Now single I am working any ways and it is just as any normal day.

So I will be doing what I have been doing every Thursday since.

But looking forward to what the boys make me in school and just chilling out watching movies.

I love Valentine's. Sure you can let your partner know you love them all year around but it's nice to have a special day dedicated and to take some time to let each other know how much you care for them.

I get why people think it's a big commercial rip-off but you don't have to go out for a huge expensive meal or whatever. Make dinner at home, hand-make a card. I'm really looking forward to it this year

Never celebrated Valentine's day as have been single for them all, as most have said, relationships are a lot more than one day and everything is priced up for the day so not sure how useful it is. Obviously like anything there are always varying opinions

Would agree with this, really it's what you make of it. Can be done well without spending alot. More thoughtful and personal things would be better than what usually is bought

Meh, the day itself doesn't bother me. It's the expectations that go along with it.

Men are expected to buy a Facebook worthy amount of red shite for their partners to display & take a photo for social media, to show how wonderful their partner is. When really you know she's cheating on him & he actually quite dislikes her

It's a farce, you never see men put a pressie pic up, do they actually get any, or do they just not need the 'oh you're so lucky' comments?
