Nollaig na fear has just passed us. We as men are too hard on each other and on ourselves. Its time to stand and really look at our bodies and our minds. We are bloody amazing gentlemen ... we may have lumps, we may be imperfect but these bodies can give life. Treat ourselves with kindness and love. Our minds are bright and articulate ... feed it knowledge. Our spirit is strong and courageous never allow another to break it. Fab gentlemen you are good enough, you are beautiful, you are strong. Today i choose to celabrate my own gender and why not ??? One postive post about women and look at the reaction of some ...not all but some. What does that say about society and more importantly the attitudes of some towards women. Its ok to say women are great and im glad im female ...its ok to be positive about others. Its ok to say be kind to ourselves and other women ...we are sometimes our own worst critics ... i do appriciate what you've said though |

I only go for strong women, that's a red herring and a poor attempt to character assinarem your way out of taking the argument head on.
I'm a man of principle and I can't stomach the narrative that women are systematically oppressed in modern Ireland when it is objectively false to anyone who opens their eyes.

It gets to a point where you have to ask, what's left to do? What do you actually want?
In the meantime I think men's rights have started to suffer... The threat of trial by media in a false r*pe accusation, being overlooked for jobs because of quotas and the recent introduction of women only jobs (the definition of sexism), father's rights, lots of stuff.
None of this concerns me directly but it's not right either.
Anyone who complains is a default misogynist who's threatened by the idea of strong independent women - example two posts up.
I won't get much support on this opinion as most guys act in extreme deference in the hope of getting laid here. |

But being serious for a moment, if anyone needs a big up it is in fact men, the suicide stats paint a grim picture.
It is and unfortunately an inability to effectively communicate feelings and emotions is sighted as a major issue amoungst men as well as societal changes, gender roles becoming less defined. The messege its ok to say im not ok is a truely great one. Its not easy for anybody suffering from mental health issues but as you say the stats are there and men are the more vunerable of the sexes.
And the subtle but palpable demonisation of average guys by feminism incorporated doesn't help.
For generations women were oppressed in the most awful ways.. we only got the vote 100 years ago. Been a strong confident woman isn't feminism...its been a strong confident woman. As a sex we had little or no voice for generation's, we have now and its ok to celebrate been a woman and its ok for gender roles to change.
Harking back to 100 years ago is exactly the problem.
Look around you in 2019 and for the last 10-20 years at least.
It's the same logic that drives republicans to hate Britsh people living today for what their ancestors got up to.
Celebrate all you want but don't tell us that all men need to educated on how not to r*or or that all women should be believed in all circumstances

I agree they are no longer opressed. But they are often still not treated as equals
It gets to a point where you have to ask, what's left to do? What do you actually want?
In the meantime I think men's rights have started to suffer... The threat of trial by media in a false r*pe accusation, being overlooked for jobs because of quotas and the recent introduction of women only jobs (the definition of sexism), father's rights, lots of stuff.
None of this concerns me directly but it's not right either.

Women only jobs ...nuns ??? And fathers rights, im a seperated woman with a family. My ex partner is a father with rights and access protected by law. Mens rights are in no way effected by women ... but if you read stats women are achieving better leaving certs and degrees. Thats a fact. Thats down to an individual its also down to an individual to make themselves employable. As for false R accustations its happened but many many many crimes have gone unreported and unprosecuted. Do i as a woman allow that to taint my veiw of all men ..no. There is no quotas been filled but as an employer you will employ the mist quailified and best suited. Some jobs are female dominated and some male dominated by tradition. I work in a traditionally female dominated profession, but there is also men employed too. We want equailty and we're nearly there. For the next generation it'll happen. |

I work in a company that transparently reports they pay men 30% more than females for comparable roles. It's a male orientated old boys school. But I don't be burning my bra over it  |

There's are quotas in politics and just before Christmas it was announced that there will be female only professorships.

Hang on there I think class equality is more important than gender equality . Why do I ,who grew up poor , now have to work double the hours to earn half the pay of well to do men. Sure education is open to all but money is the great oppressor. Break down class and this will liberate all genders. |

You're right....but there will always be a heirarchy based on competence but where you went to school shouldn't be a factor.
The "new" economy will balance much of this. I see you don't even need a degree to work at Facebook or similar companies now so long as you have the skills. |
