Just read online that Ireland’s has increased by and extra 537 cases in 2018 from 2017... that’s scarey ... Hope everyone one here gets regular checks .... you can also get sti from oral as some people think you can’t ... I saw a programme only a while back about this ... so if you’re using a condom great but still having oral then get sti checked .... xxxx |

That's what I mean.
If a 1000 people checked themselves and 200 had something. Annual total will be 200.
If 1500 came in and checked themselves and 300 had something. That's an annual total increased by 100.

Even if you use protection got oral, there is a risk, unless you are celibate or monogamous with someone who can be trusted (!) you could get an sti. |

That is simply not true. If you are a white Irish person and you hook up with another white Irish person on a night out, then your risk of getting something are one in 80,000, as in you could make your way through a full croke park before hitting someone with an sti.
Saying that, the fact they went home with you means they partake in risky behaviour so are slightly above that.
And of course people on here are much much, higher risk than an "average" person. |

Doesn’t make a difference by oral you are still swapping bodily fluids so you still need testing to be sure |

Testing is relatively painless...most GPs can do it for you if you don't want to queue for a free one in the free clinics. My tests cost me 95€ with results back within 7 days by text. Includes bloods, throat swap, urine sample and physical examination. As Mrs Stray points out they will ask nationality and gender of recent partners and whether safe or not and whether oral was performed. Sometimes interesting to see the reaction from the GP when you list out your recent sexual history as I suspect they don't come across many in the lifestyle. |

I don’t go to my gp for that reason I’d feel uncomfortable saying I’m having sex with other men for that reason I visit the clinic.. fair play commando, so many don’t go for tests x |

if you don't live near a clinic it's a lot more convenient to go to your GP tbh |

If you want to go to your gp but dont want to be honest about your sex life, then feel free to just say you had unsafe sex once and you found out they sleep around a lot and are involved in very risky behaviour.
They ask the questions because of false positives. You can test positive for HIV and not have it, but you can never test negative and not have it.
For this reason they look at your risk level. If you are risky and test positive, the stats say you are 99% sure to be positive. So they start acting as if you have the disease. Call you in, run another test, inform you, etc etc.
If you are low to zero risk and get a positive, they will likely flat up ignore it and just phone you to do another test whenever you can.
So all you have to do is tell the doctor/nurse that you were exposed to potential risk, so that they can take it into account. |

"Sorry when I said you can never test negative, that means outside the waiting period. Obviously you can test negative for the first few weeks/months and have it." which is about 6 weeks though theres a fair chance it will be caught if after 3 weeks.

I'd bet to differ. I think the majority here are careful about their sexual health, using protection and getting regular screening. I know a rake of young lads in my workplace are barebacking around the joint with random strangers regularly |

"What ur saying is that everyone should stick with rte and tg4 and not b out looking 4 BBC" lol....variety is the spice of life though....play safe...get tested regularly and just have you head about you and you can watch most channels. I TV is not for me but everyone should feel comfortable regardless of their orientation or preferences.

You all are in higher risk group as you practice non monogamous sex. This is indifferent to your birthplace, nationality or skin colour.
Please do test in regular intervals for your and our sake. And teach your kids the importance of healthy sexual practices and regular testing if they are sexually active.

" I agree...anyone on here who thinks they are not a risk because of the profile of people they meet is slightly dillusional. Think of regular tests as part of the standard running costs of being involved in the lifestyle just like hotel costs, fab membership and your monthly outlay on condoms. Beats a sky sports subscription hands down |

Apparently the rise in HIV over the years is proportional to the rate of sub Saharan African migration.
As most people are aware there is a problem with HIV in Africa and approx 69% of all HIV positive people in the world live in sub Saharan Africa and hence if people are coming to Europe a considerable percentage will be infected.
Before anyone accuses me of being racist or xenophobic these are simple facts nothing else |

Jes.. Scary yes, I started early 2000 and didn't stop until I got married, on a serious note I know it's still rampant and think people in my era had a careless approach to the dangers and got lucky generaly, but now it seems crazy to have unprotected sex yet people still do it, yes it's an animal instinct, unfortunately stis will continue to rise |

We mentioned it to a very hot couple we were to meet, but they were a little bit surprised, so we did not insist.

Teenage girls are entitled to free hpv vaccine. I don’t think it’s free for boys yet but can be ordered through your GP privately. It’s most effective if given before they become sexually active so suggestion is you have it done for them in 1st year in line with the programme for girls. |

I’m no statistician but I don’t think you can conclude from the percentage given above that a “considerable percentage” of African people coming to Ireland or anywhere will have HIV. To conclude that is to disregard all variables.
In any event the truth of the matter is all it takes is one unlucky encounter regardless of age, race, sexuality or anything else. |

I got the all clear any time I've been tested but would hate to catch something. When things can be caught orally is it okay to wear condoms during oral? Would it insult the other person? Does it make it seem like you may have something? It seems awkward even though it shouldn't really be because it's simply playing safe.
What do you do when you want to eat a pussy lol?? I've read about dental dams but I've never seen any for sale anywhere? |

"99.9% of all people that have had sex have HPV had to google that : interesting and scarey fact
Teenage girls are entitled to free hpv vaccine. I don’t think it’s free for boys yet but can be ordered through your GP privately. It’s most effective if given before they become sexually active so suggestion is you have it done for them in 1st year in line with the programme for girls."
Our son, was told he will get the HPV vaccine in the secondary school soon.
A very good thing in my opinion.
Last time I've got tested, I've got my Hep and HPV vaccines few weeks ago and going back for round two in Feb, they were almost "begging" the males to get vaccinated, but very few did.

Nobody should take offence at being asked to play safe. Cut the ends off a condom and slit open to lay flat and it makes a perfect dental dam. |

I only ask as to be honest I've never used protection for oral unless it was already on from sex briefly. I guess I've just been lucky with my sexual partners so far haha. But the more I read the more I'm fearful of just how easy it is to catch something so forgive me if any of my questions seem silly lol.
Oh i read that too about the dental dam must start carrying a scissors with my condoms haha. But really must you buy them online because I've never seen legit ones in a shop? |

I've yet to see them in a shop. And your questions aren't at all silly. |

"Wasnt there a fella from cork who posted a thread must be over a year ago now saying he contracted hiv after having outdoor fun with a certain lady that used this site before..anybody remember?"
Never heard but Jesus. That's worrying. Catching anything beginning in H is definitely bad news.
Any idea if the woman knew she was positive at the time?
He didn't wrap up either did he? |

Jesus that's horrible and definitely criminal if she was aware of it and didn't tell him before unprotected sex so he could've made an informed decision.
I'd feicin sue the bitch |

The intelligent decision is to disregard what others tell you and protect yourself at all times. |

"What ur saying is that everyone should stick with rte and tg4 and not b out looking 4 BBC"
My post meant that the "growth" ie the additional new cases are caused by new entrants into the country who already had it, and not from sex so much. (well year on year thats the trend)
The sex stats are actually low, and as swingers everyone on this site is an elevated risk so needs to be serious about their health.

"Apparently the rise in HIV over the years is proportional to the rate of sub Saharan African migration.
As most people are aware there is a problem with HIV in Africa and approx 69% of all HIV positive people in the world live in sub Saharan Africa and hence if people are coming to Europe a considerable percentage will be infected.
Before anyone accuses me of being racist or xenophobic these are simple facts nothing else
I’m no statistician but I don’t think you can conclude from the percentage given above that a “considerable percentage” of African people coming to Ireland or anywhere will have HIV. To conclude that is to disregard all variables.
In any event the truth of the matter is all it takes is one unlucky encounter regardless of age, race, sexuality or anything else."
If 69% of all people worldwide with HIV live in sub Sahara Africa then the chances of catching HIV from a person from that region are much greater than say somefrom from finland!
I'm not saying 69% of African migrants are HIV positive but nevertheless it does contribute to the stats of HIV in Ireland. |

"That's what I mean.
If a 1000 people checked themselves and 200 had something. Annual total will be 200.
If 1500 came in and checked themselves and 300 had something. That's an annual total increased by 100.
"
Yep, that's how I looked at it too when I first read the initial thread post.
Naturally, populations increase which therefore means more people become old enough and start engaging in sexual activities and therefore more people who might go to get tested.
To get an accurate outlook, any figures should be given as a percentage of the population and any supposed increase or change should be given as percentages of the previous totals. |

In 2017 60% of HIV positive cases in Ireland were heterosexual men from sub Saharan Africa.

This may well be the case but doesn't change the argument that if you are active on fab or in the swinging community you should get tested regularly. Many women on fab have a BBC fantasy and guys on fab who can offer that do very well. Fab also has a relatively high percentage of bisexual men and women compared to the vanilla population. Also HIV is not the only nasty STI out there nor the only one that is on the rise in Ireland. Do yourselves and everyone on here a favour an get regular tests. Many STIs are treatable with a simple course of antibiotics if caught in the early stages. Don't be an ostrich and just stick your head in the sand - know where you stand and react accordingly. |

Statistics can be manipulated to favour the person sending out the message. If 200 people out of a 1000 tested positive thats 20% by demographic. If 300 out of 1500 test positive its still 20% by demographic. An increase in numbers yes. But the percentage of positive tests remains the same. Everyone should be getting tested regularly. It makes no sense not to. It doesnt protect you, it informs you. And that protects others. It would actually be good for the site to post a reminder dialogue box when you log in. Market it like everything else on the planet. Speech over |

"The other figures are of herpes, clamdiya etc... not good "
The number of people having unprotected oral sex is damn terrifying. Regular checks are a great way to know, but not getting infected is way more important.
The other day I read in the paper this crazy gay guy that was infecting other guys on purpose. Checks twice a year good, safe sex better. |

"Apparently dating apps and the use of drugs has helped increase the increase in people testing positive for HIV"
For two reasons, people are having sex with more and different partners, and so some will get tested because before they would think they wouldn't need. More meets more transmissions more checks more results coming positive. But I honestly believe that there are more people getting infected. I've seen frightening things, my wife and I once got out of a club because of what we were seeing. Terrifying. |

"Is there anyone here that gives blowjobs with condom on ?
I always do.
We mentioned it to a very hot couple we were to meet, but they were a little bit surprised, so we did not insist.
We've these unlubricated condoms that we tested for this purpose."
Some who I have requested wear one were surprised also but once thought about it understood and was happy to wear one.
On the other hand, there are some that flat out won’t wear one which is why I always mention it during the initial communication. |
