New Year's Resolutions

Jump to: Newest in thread

I know it may seem a little early to be mentioning it but if we look at today's date, we are just over two weeks away from the New Year.

So now might be a good time to reflect on 2018 and consider what we would like to achieve in 2019.

So...... what are your New Year's Resolutions? Have any of you decided on any yet or still mulling it over?

I'll go first.

I plan to quit smoking and either cut out alcohol completely or cut way down. Also planning on gym few times each week and a LOT of long distance running as I have MAJOR plans regarding it.

Interested in hearing all yours.

Always plenty of fun to be had but for me to achieve my long term goals I have to make sacrifices and put in the work. A necessary evil. Lol.

For me

Stop stressing about people's opinions of me

Back training properly and get my 100kg deadlift

Enter a powerlifting competition

And finally try and actually find some fun on Fab

And one more go out more

I'm not great with will power either but sometimes with the right inspiration and motivation things happen.

Never worry about what people think of you. Everything starts from within you. The only person you need to impress first and foremost is yourself. After that you can look to others.

Hope you get the powerlifting done and enter the competitions.

There is fun to be found on Fab but patience is key. Quality over quantity. Know your worth and never settle for less.

Yes, on your last point I'm inclined to feel the same. I'm very much an introvert and think I should get out more often too.

Thanks for your input.

Yep, why not. I've ran businesses before myself. Have one ongoing and intend to start a new venture in the new year.

Nothing stopping you. People could say "Well, this is stopping me and that is stopping me..." etc.

Not true. All those things are just obstacles. The only thing stopping you is YOU.

If you really want it you will find a way and do it.

Go get it! Best wishes in achieving it.

Shall we make next October ish time into some kind of deadline for checking each other's progress to add motivation?

Thank you for your kind words. Running other people's businesses is always a lot harder as there's always someone to answer to. Being your own boss is just too good... comes with a hefty price of having next to no time for social life ...

A little friendly advice. Don’t wait until January to go to the gym. Get up in the morning and just go. Don’t make a list and think about it just go.

Great advice, our class has gone from 12 down to 4 since Dec 1st and awaiting the onrush from Jan. Luckily the PT keeps it very limited. But get out in the morning and do some exercise or sport you enjoy as its the only way to stick to it.

My own goals are finish my house, start writing again and just fucking book that trip to Argentina!

on the hill NordWest of

With the season I dreaded those kinds of threads already. I will never understand why people make resolutions dor the new year, stick with them for a while and then it all goes belly up again. If you're serious about it you can do it any time of the year, at least that's my credo.

Have you tried the vaping? I went from a 10 box (when you could buy them) a day to a 20 box a day.

Tried some of the entry level vape pens but couldn't quite get away from the smokes.

Invested €60 in a decent vape mod and have never looked back. Went with the menthol flavour to get completely get away from tobacco.

That was 5 years ago on New year's day. I Vaped for 12 months reducing the nicotine mg and gave it up entirely on New year's 2015.

Smoke for 20 years. If I can do then anyone. Trust me.

Happy to help if I can. Feel free to dm me.

This exactly....you don't need a milestone like new years to make lifestyle changes and very few new years resolutions stick. Just make a little change to your life right now.

Yes, let's do that. I'm hoping come this time next year you will be that successful we won't have time to talk to each other. And I reckon by my own plans I will not have the time either but if somewhere along the timeline I get to tap those bum cheeks then that will be a major bonus.
