OP every scent smells different on the skin of each person, for example some guys will swear by Joop, but i find it totally vile  (along with Fahrenheit) and if someone bought it for me it would go straight in the bin!
Ask you partner, maybe even try and get some hints or even look at what she uses already

Thanks so far for all replies. It gets more complicated lol.
The lady in question is an acquaintance and I have no idea what she likes and can't ask anyone, so I suppose I'm looking for something safe that would be to the taste of the majority of ladies |

Some shops do a little box of sameles that you can present with a voucher included for the person to then buy their prefered one |

L'Eau d'Issey Miyake is a fabulous one and I've never met a woman who doesn't like it.
I do remember a lady who wore Poison and it had the most erotic effect on me. She was wearing scarves for a few days after but I know it's not to everyone's taste.
