I'm no expert but I'm guessing lifestyle Clubs in Ireland are run as private members clubs and are not open to generial members of the public so they dont fall under the same strict licencing legislation as say your run of the mill pub or night club.

Theres various reasons why....

One famous club isn't a club per se... Its more of a BDSM 'theme night' and run in a fully licensed premises and so can't be touched.

There's another club that (I won't say who they cater to) the Garda are well aware of but are happy to allow continue to serve its members as they appreciate knowing where such a club rather than driving it underground.

I could say more about yet another club... But I like my kneecaps too much....

As for events such as my own? They're simply private gatherings of friends...

The legalities are kinda complex and murky. But bar a certain few disgusting publications with zero journalistic integrity I don't think anyone in the Justice Department has a taste for 'exposing' anyone's sex life. There's a live and let live approach.

*ahem*

Seeing as many members of the legal profession indulge in such antics themselves.... At one stage I enjoyed the company of a married lady who's husband was of the judiciary (with his knowledge)...

When the O'Dwyer case was ongoing several prominent members of the BDSM community actually came forward to assist Gardai with their inquires around the lifestyle and how it operates in Ireland.

In short, bar our public identities - there's nothing really to hide.
