Baby showers

Are baby showers, gender reveals etc a good idea? A friend is thinking of having one, but I've always thought they were a bad idea. What if she has a miscarriage or baby is stillborn or whatever, then she's left with all these presents and stuff. Surely it would just make the heartbreak even worse???

Yes its an American tradition ... id never been to one until my daughter in law had one ...we had food .. played games ... it was just a bit of fun .. but I do understand what you mean .....my friend's baby died during childbirth , it was horrendous, she had all these presents before the birth , she just wanted it all out of the house .... it felt wrong to have celebrated too early

They wouldn't be to my taste, but if other people want to throw them, their choice.
