Put off by spelling

Is it just me or is anyone else put off by poor Grammer? When I read a status update or a profile bio full of text speak or mistakes I tend to swipe right. I know I shouldn't let something so trivial put me off a Fabber, and I've made my share of mistakes when replying to posts myself, but I just can't help myself.

Does anyone else feel the same way or have any other trivial sounding peevs that might put them off someone?

It's grammar not grammer. Sorry I couldn't stop myself

I didn't realise the swipe right option was available on fab!

And no bad spelling or bad grammar wouldn't put me off, we all make mistakes. But continuous text talk is just lazy imo.

In real life some people have problems with spelling and grammar. For some it may have been a poor educational experience, for others it may be a condition like dyslexia. Don't be a dick by judging people like that, particularly when you fuck it up yourself in your first sentence.

Stay fabulous

I’m going to say that the odd mistake wouldn’t (no one is perfect) but terrible spelling would yes!

If you don't like it use it as a filter but don't put them down or others publically by making a big post about it.

I'm not into hairy bushes but I don't go shouting about it as there are many who have them and even more who don't mind. I just see a pic and skip along quietly.

Who's shouting about anything? This was meant to be tongue in cheek and to spark a bit of conversation, if you noticed my mistake with the word grammar, it also has a capital letter to draw your attention. I suppose I have come across dickish and my apologies if I've offended anyone. It's really only text speak that puts me off a profile, but also messages littered with mistakes. However, if the poster has the things I look for then it likely wouldn't put me off entirely. Lighten up folks

Hate bad spelling/grammar, find it a turn off. Understand other people don't give a shite about it but as with everything else, each to their own.

What always fascinates me how peeps can write an endless paragraph with no punctuation whatsoever. However it wouldn't put me off neither does bad grammar.

I just find it difficult to read a post if it doesn’t have any punctuation or if it has poor grammar. So it does put me off a bit. I’m not a punctuation or grammar snob or anything, (there’s plenty of things in life that I could do better), but I guess some things just frustrate me more than others.

I wouldn't pass much remarks of an odd spelling mistake here and there but lots of mistakes would put me off, yes. As for text speak, I'll say no more!!

That said, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it!

Not spelling by itself. It's not difficult (usually!) to distinguish between an odd mistake/typo/autocorrect, someone who might have dyslexia or someone who just can't string a sentence together. Only the latter would put us off.

I remembered this was on an old Facebook post I saved between a few friends of mine:

"As it was date nite on my birthday he took me close shopping before we got sumfing to eat then we went to see a rerun of Happy Gilmore. Luv that film, it's funnominal!! I luv Adam Sandler but he just thinks he's meaty oaker. Ugh!! But we didn't fall out LOL!!"

The top comment was from her sister who said "keep writing like this and I'm gonna need aunty depressants!"

Made me chuckle

I've just had someone have a go at me in a private message.

Just to reiterate:

All I said was that a profile full of mistakes or text speak might put me off, at no point did I say anyone was an idiot for not being able to spell. That was not said or even implied. I wouldn't look down on anyone for anything, who am I to judge anyone by anything other than my own personal preferences? I don't know if someone has dislexia, or if they have dropped out of school or have even been fortunate enough to go to school. As I said, it's just something that might put me off, purely because I believe a meeting of minds can be as sexy as anything physical. This does not mean that I feel high and mighty or anything else you might want to take from this, and take wrongly.

I apologise again, if anyone has taken me up wrong and taken offence, it was not my intention to offend anyone.

Women seem to have the biggest problem with spelling here. You'd think "yes" was an easy word to spell but so many of them spell it as NO

It's more constant text speak that would put me off, or if it was so poor I wasn't able to read the profile or message.

Otherwise, everyone makes the odd mistake, and auto correct sometimes does more harm than good. It wouldn't be a deal breaker.
