Just talk - IMPORTANT

So got home from work earlier on to the news that a childhood friend has taken his own life. Haven't been this upset or gutted in a while. Nobody suspected a thing, not even his family.

I grew up with him, lads holidays with him, played for the same football team (he was miles better), school together, drinking etc... I had only text him at the weekend to see if he was going to the football with me but he said no this time which was strange.

Now he's gone. Can't believe it.

PLEASE! I beg ANYONE on here who is suffering in silence or isn't sure how they feel please talk to someone, anyone. Family, friends, stranger, whoever.

I hope the admin are ok with this here but it's such an important issue especially here in NI/ROI.

I'm here for ANYONE if they fancy a chat.

I'm so so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and his family.

My cousin took his own life this year, its the first time our family has been affected by suicide. Death in any way is devastating, but being self inflicted, just hits you in a different way.

I hope you're OK.

There's very few of us who haven't been touched by this. It's always good to talk, even to a stranger.

Hasn't sunk in yet. Feel so strange, almost like it isn't real?

I'm going round to see his mum and dad later who always treated me like one of their own. Forgot how many times I ended up back at theirs and they fed/watered me, even let me stay over and took me on holiday when we were kids.

I think only once I see them tonight that it'll seem real. What do you say? There's nothing you can say really?

Thanks for the messages everyone. And as I said if you ever need someone to talk to about anything I'm here xx

That's incredibly tough to hear for you. It's so common now too and has been so silenced in the country. Sharing your grief will help you through this and time will eventually heal the wounds. Sorry for your loss.
