Your wallet can by in danger, you should be fine, but if you will look for problems you will find them for sure.
Salt mine in Bochnia is the oldest one in Europe and is just 40 km away from Krakow. 1 h drive.
Great place if you have asthma or similar problems. |

It's a great city to visit.
People are very friendly and thankfully speak great English as my polish is non existent.
There are free walking tours from the market square (linen hall) and Jewish quarter that run at different times. Look for the umbrellas.
Electric car tours are also fun and very informative. Especially around the Jewish quarter and across the river to the Jewish ghetto and schindlers factory.
Auschwitz/Birkenau death camps are a must as is the salt mines. Pre booking might be wise if on a short weekend break.
Lot's of bars, cafe's and restaurants everywhere and good value too.
Architecture is amazing.
Wawel castle a must see.
I found the city safe and didn't experience anything negative.
Cabs are cheap and there's a good tram service.
Have a great time. |

Wow that’s great, thank you so much for all that info very helpful indeed
Looking forward to going now
I was told it’s cheaper not to book tours to the camps and to just go or get a taxi yourself
But really thankful for your help |

It’s a great city. Been twice and felt very safe. Very reasonable too. English spoken most places. Highly recommend tour to the concentration camps. Found booking through hotel very reasonable. Would also recommend joining a walking tour- very informative and you get to meet people. Also the Wodka bar at night is a great place to visit. Enjoy the trip. |
