"Surely it shouldn’t make a difference one way or the other. I often go for social coffees but don’t actually drink coffee - same thing?"
Thought it was just me who doesn't drink coffee at a coffee meet |

I don’t need alcohol to have fun.
I prefer to be sober when playing at parties etc, then things are in control and I can leave if and when I want to.
I prefer not to play with people d*unk or high, just my personal preference. |

I'm the same. Its not easy to be a non drinker"
Agreed, social life in Ireland revolves around alcohol and many people start at such a young age that they never develop the social skills to have a good time without it. |

"Wasnt expecting that many non drinkers here . Saying when playing not drinking iv witnessed a few women at parties who were so pissed it was a free for all for the guys . Not really my scene "
Too many complications in that scenario for me |

The issue wasn't the ability to consent while d*unk though, that has yet to surface.. |

I don’t drink as I like to keep my wits about me, whether that be a social meet or otherwise. I have no issue with a guy having a few drinks but I refuse to be in a meet with someone that’s d*unk.
What enjoyment will I get from playing with a guy that can’t keep an erection or that tries to eat me like he’s lapping up another pint |

We don't need drink to play etc but if we're at a party social etc yes we enjoy a drink... Easily we can go out and not drink, this is sometimes the case if one of us has to drive but no one ever says why you not drinking .. so I don't think it matters to most if you drink or not |

I've no issue whatsover with someone not drinking, but I do have an issue with someone pouring the drink into himself while meeting. D*unken sex is sheit sex. No thanks. A glass of wine or two is fine but then it's play time. |

Being serious for moment..
Theres so many reasons to not drink when meeting someone i couldnt even list them all.
For the social occasion, it is sometimes better to have a drink, especially if you dont know anyone, problem is, some people forget where that are and presume they are still in the local and get hammered.
In saying that i have gone to a few events outside the city and not drank so dont see a problem with it.

"I drink on occasion but dont need it to socalise or play.
Dont see how being a drinker or non drinker has anything to do with meeting people"
I stopped drinking almost seven years ago for no other reason than I stopped enjoying it. To this day people on hearing I once drank but no longer do, ask me if I am an alcoholic. Which I’m not |

Yeah and this is one of the reasons why I don't generally drink at parties, mainly just at socials (unless I'm driving).
I don't find d*unkenness attractive and more importantly I prefer to keep my wits about me as alcohol tends to lead to some form of drama and I avoid drama at all costs.
I leave drinking for nights out with my mates, at parties I prefer to focus on play |

I haven’t had a taste of drink near my lips in 10 years. Don’t feel the need to have it either. I’ve just as much as the next person and jump in the car and head home
Can be tough at times though, listening to people who are drinking make a complete eejit out of themselves |

"I'm sure some people do have a problem with non drinkers seeing as their are so many people here with alcohol problems
"
The problem is that some wish they could do without it, but cannot as it is difficult . So then it is easier to say non drinkers are boring etc etc because they have to have it . I understand this, I have been to plenty party's with people drinking and have not had any negativity from people really. Alot saying how do you do it, i wish i could do it. |

Really shouldnt make a difference.
Plenty to do and enjoy without being d*unk.
If one needs to be d*unk to have a good time, need to find something else to do rather than drink!! |

Their business i couldn't care less. Same as someone who doesn't smoke. Just as long as they don't preach from their throne to me about it. Nothing worse. |

"I'm not able to drink...because of this i was regularly greeted with "who else is going out"....
What a fucking insult lol"
Me too, I've had to stop due to illness but to be honest I rarely go out anymore since I had my eldest 4 years ago. I have a wedding on New Years Eve and I am focking dreading it! |

I never drink on a meet. Out with mates then yes bring it on, but on a social or a horizontal then nope.
Wouldn't judge anyone who doesn't drink.
Wouldn't want to meet someone who had been drinking..Have done it twice and both meets were underwhelming... |

I stopped drinking 8 1/2 years ago, I had to. The first couple of years were extremely difficult, I didn't go out.
Thankfully now I can go out and enjoy myself.
As for being put off by non-drinkers, I avoided them like the plague when I was drinking. |

I wouldn't call myself a non drinker (alcohol) but would have a pint or a glass of wine, but no more than the one, it is a focus point in Ireland for socialising, I know a lot of people who can't hold a conversation unless they are drinking |

Or who's eyebrows join in the middle
"Beware of those whose eyebrows meet,
For in their heart there lies deceit " "

I'm not a non drinker but drink very little these days and am happier for it. Dread weddings and stag parties as there is pressure on to drink but even with those I generally drink less than those I drink with.
If I'm ever invited to parties or meets and greets I don't think I'll bother. |
