"Just wondering what welcome he'll get in the emerald Isle... " We got bigger dickheads running ( sorry trying ) to run this country and screw it's people over...so I think it'd suit the Irish people better to look at our own country's leadership and to change it then to disrespect the leadership of another country

"Hopefully a good welcome. Pretty sick of Irish being stuck up to visiting people. Stuck up? At least it's better to be honest than to give off this fake 'oh the Irish love everyone' bullshit. " Noam Chomsky once heralded the Irish people as being one of the most considered people in the western world. We would often have thought out stances on the world around us, that cut through American and British imperialism and agendas. You could sit down with people and find an informed debate on issues and a reasoned stand point on issues. Our stance on issues such as palestine offering a philosophical view point of a people who went through having their land taken, reasoned out into a thoughtful considered stance, and this would be echoed through out all our stances. People who gave it a bit of thought before coming to a stance, who considered the morality of the issue from the viewpoint of both parties. Where the emotion of the situation was set aside for a moment, where the person screaming "think of the children" was ignored, and the facts and logic were applied. Well those days are gone, its partisan now, you either agree with me or I insult you. Where logic or trying to think out a stance isn't fashionable, we log onto twitter and have them tell us what our opinion should be. It's tiresome and boring. I needn't ask anyone on this site their view on obama, I just have to ask American news sites what they think, and Irish people will have the same view, and there is nothing honest about it.

"Wonder where they will have the army staying this time , doubt most of them have any major problem with their conditions they are trained to rough it . But a bit of respect, and health and safety by their superiors to have the place cleaned of needles and dead rodents first would be the right thing to do " No they don't have a problem...most know the goverment and only a small % of the country actually give a shit about the defence forces and most would gladly see it torn to pieces in the morning....but unlike the guards they've got enough pride in themselves to not strike ( blue flue anyone ) and follow orders....but don't expect them not to be pissed of at amount of overtime the guards got for one weekend

"He's more then welcome. Love him or hate him. Once you get past the bad publicity and the media shyte. His presidency has been a success so far. The American economy is thriving. He has delivered on almost all of his promises unlike most politicians in this country. Its pathetic that he'll be greeted with boos and jeers from ppl that no nothing about politics and simply hate him because they read a few negative reports on Facebook. " A few negative reports on facebook..? What planet do you live on?? This man has been imllicated in criminal offences, is considering pardoning and convicted felon in order to prevent said felon from flipping. The us economy has been on a steasy upward trend since 2010, its not due to Trump he's jyst taking credit for it. His needless trade war is racking up trillions in national dept, the efects of which will only be felt once he's been consigned to history. Lije the boom in ghe mud 2000's, the griwth is built on debt and deregulation, a house of cards that will come crashing down

Hey sorry, my point was Irish people used to have a factual reason for having their opinion. We have no reason to protest Trump while welcoming Hillary Clinton/Obama. When you ask people why you should protest him, you just get called an idiot or worse for not personally disliking the man.

"Referencing Chomsky in order to disagree with protest over Trump, you know how stupid that sounds? Hahaha excellent comment, that just made my day! " Tell me why it was stupid? Talk about Ireland and how they form their opinions only when replying and leave Chomskys like or dislike of any specific Trump policy out of it. Chomskys dislike of any trump policy does not equal support for Ireland to become partial and partisan and to follow american media, american media he hates more than any president, lets be clear on that. Lets also be clear he hates any country blindly following american media. And one final thing to be clear about, he would view Ireland as falling from a great height to have our history and culture and to be now blindly following american media.

What's with the obsession with the American media? Irish people don't like Trump because he's a racist, misogynist war monger. Just recently Trump has cut all funding in aid to Palestinian organisations, considering Ireland's championing of the Palestinian cause, that's reason enough. As for Chomsky, he's a socialist (anarchist more specifically) and would be the first to say that any visit by trump anywhere in the world should be met by protest at his and America's policy, both foreign and domestic.

As for Chomsky, he's a socialist (anarchist more specifically) and would be the first to say that any visit by trump anywhere in the world should be met by protest at his and America's policy, both foreign and domestic. Palestine is governed by a terrorist group (Hamas)and openly anti Israel, why would anyone support them? How many children have the Israelis murdered in the last year? 25 from the start of the year til July, 25 CHILDREN! According to you it doesn't matter about Israeli children! " what a statement.. where did you draw that conclusion from??

"Referencing Chomsky in order to disagree with protest over Trump, you know how stupid that sounds? Hahaha excellent comment, that just made my day! Tell me why it was stupid? Talk about Ireland and how they form their opinions only when replying and leave Chomskys like or dislike of any specific Trump policy out of it. Chomskys dislike of any trump policy does not equal support for Ireland to become partial and partisan and to follow american media, american media he hates more than any president, lets be clear on that. Lets also be clear he hates any country blindly following american media. And one final thing to be clear about, he would view Ireland as falling from a great height to have our history and culture and to be now blindly following american media. "Trump is a fucking scum bag, racist, cheating, sexist, narcassictic, money laundering Russian stooge. And a bad one at that. Just because we have our own problems on this land doesn't mean we welcome everyone else with open arms because we're not perfect. Especially when u demand more from a person with the most powerful position on the planet. His policies, such as enviornment, UN positions etc, have global consequences. If you respect the planet, a woman's right to choose, equality of race n gender etc. Freedom of the press n democracy then I'd certainly protest a Trump visit. " Russian stooge priceless, considering it was Clinton / Obama who had closer links to Russia and even sold weapons grade uranium to Russia for €€€€€...but it's trumps fault yeah right..as for freedom of the press that's bullshit because here as in America if you disagree with ANYONE with left leaning policy's..your shouted down and called racist so spare me the racist card....and America cut funding to the UN that's their business at the end of the day why should they carry the can of funding the UN when other country's won't...equality of race so he's a baaaaaaad man for wanting to protect Americas borders and the people within them.....instead of having America turn into the shit show Europe has,An uncontrolled invasion of undocumented migrants..nearly all fighting age males,no go zones for locals in some of Europes country's and an explosion of r##pe and violence against European women..yep he's a baaaaad man for not wanting that....I suggest you wake up,the worlds a bad place with a lot of bad people in it that don't care what u think of trump,as they'ed just as easily do us harm as they would trump...

Yes. The wheels of justice turn slow. The thread is about Trump. There seems to be this bizarre notion that if people think Trump should be held accountable that they automatically Bill and Hil combo have fuck all to answer for. That's not how objective analysis works. Doesn't matter what side of the political divide someone is on. If they are guilty of what is alleged they should face the consequences for sure. Make no mistake about it. As for the comments about his base I said his base . According to pew research 81% of white evangelical christians voted for Trump. Of those who identify as evangelical 76% are white, 6% black, 11% latino ,2% Asian with other/mixed at 5% again according to pew research. So as I said overwhelmingly white.

" Whataboutism is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument, which is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.

To suggest otherwise is willfully ignorant. You set up a false equivalence. An anecdotal similarity set up as an equal where you suggest the magnitude of the majority does not hold . If you were told in the morning your daughter was going on holidays to a placr there was 2% chance she would be murdered or a different location where there was 76% chance she would be murdered, I think we both know you'd be saying.

So as I said overwhelmingly white. and as I said without going into %s he still has support from non whites no matter what the % is,and growing. The % does matter..of course it matters. " i guess when he gets a 2nd term as president we'll get to do this dance all over again...the American people voted him in as president and will most likely again so are you say they are what you claim trump to be ???

If he is a candidate in the 2020 election I wouldn't be surprised if his base voted for him again. Not at all. There are voters out there who saw him as the less of 2 evils against Clinton and with a hetter candidate running a more populist campaign I think it can get some of those voters back and much of the electorate to vote who didn't last time around. The mid terms should be interesting in November for sure.

More chance of being murdered in a European or Scandinavian country than what ? A 2 night stay in a b&b run by Michael D. Higgins ? A 4 night cruise in the Shannon ? A week long stay in New York ? Malmo I think has the highest murder rate in Scandinavia. Go compare Malmo to any U.S state and see how the worst of Sweden compares the U.S. By your logic I assume you would regard it as less safe than any U.S state. Statistics if that is your case don't back you up on thr murder rate so unfortunately listening to Donnie too much has warped your capability to independently analyse with any sort of critical thinking. What's the logic behind it anyway ? The refugees ? If there is a rise in the stats it still doesn't measure up to the levels in America so again you're very misled.

I still have a little chuckle when the left including obama and clinton insisted that he accept the outcome of the election with no questions when they thought they had it in the bag. Funny how they soon reversed that when he won.he is far from perfect but considering the alternative I believe the Americans made the correct choice. He has delivered on almost all of his promises unlike most politicians in this country. Its pathetic that he'll be greeted with boos and jeers from ppl that no nothing about politics and simply hate him because they read a few negative reports on Facebook. " You do realise the man has zero regard for the environment? That's a huge issue. Absolutely huge. Or have you not noticed the extreme weather this year? Under the guise of "antifa" they brand anyone with an alternate viewpoint as fascists and nazis. Middle America has become demonised as far right in their ameobic mindset.

" ----------------- Good to see that someone hasn't lost the true essence of what Fab is all about here Whether you "love" or "hate" Trump, he seems to stir up a lot of very intense emotions in people as more & more get drawn into a huge media frenzy fueled drama around one single man... Best to remember that a narcissist is someone who thrives on excessive attention. Whether you "like" the man or "hate" the man is irrelevant as long as you're "tuning" into him because either way, he "wins" in his own mind anyway... I mean why else would a billionaire decide to star on "The Apprentice" or be involved in WWE pro wrestling? He may be wealthy but his favourite "currency" is attention to which a lot of people are paying him very handsomely indeed

"Have to laugh at the pavlovian responses from those who have been conditioned by the bombast of Trump. Hilarious moaning calling lefties "snowflakes" for calling them names . The irony seems to be lost . Rather than listening to biased agendas on the right or the left try looking for objective fact and not using information within your own echo chamber of bias regardless of left or right. Regurgitating the same ad hominem insults just shows how indoctrinated the mindset is of the person doing so. When I hear the economy is booming in the states most who say it either just repeat what they here or misunderstand that a stock market doing well isn't the only metric to measure an economy. Median wage against inflation wages of the average American are down. The vast majority of the tax cut goes to the 1%. Trickle down economics does not work and has led to previous crashes and will do so again if things continue as is. Deregulating wall st and giving it permission to act as it wants will inevitably lead to disaster again. I can see why Trump is attractive to those who like him. He talks confidently as if he knows what he talks about without actually knowing what he's talking about a lot of the time. There is a misconception that someone who is rich must be smart. He was bankrupt 6 times and has still to show his tax returns he said he would once upon a time. Who knows what skeletons would show up in that closet if it was ever opened up. People like to be controversial for the sake of it and jump on the bandwagon. People are too lazy to fact check and believe lies told by those who they look up to. A big problem is folks without an understanding of psychology or economics are easily swayed by charisma and empty promises. That is a tactic used to exploit people by both dems and republicans. There was a push against Clinton from many in the left who saw her as beholden to big money and never brought themselves to vote. Personally I think Bernie Sanders would have been a far superior candidate to Clinton but that's neither here nor there. The healthcare system in the U.S is a disgrace. The premiums are are crippling. The U.S last I heard were 37th on a list in a WHO study on health systems . There is myriad issues within the U.S Far better gun control is needed. Far too many times people with severe mental health issues are getting access to guns. The U.S political system is owned more or less by big money. Glad to see some on the left starting to only accept small dollar donations. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is certainly 1 to watch at the mo ! " Hahaha same old garbish!

I can see that you can't debate the points within the framework of the debate that is Donald Trump and to some extent the American political system. Moving the goalposts constantly via whataboutism is evidence you can't actually hold debate on the merits of the points being made. Calling out America for it's failure on issues has nothing to do with how Ireland is governed. It seems there is a struggle in your head to find a neurological pathway to logic. You assume if I say America is bad at x then Ireland etc must be good. They are assertions you keep making moving the debate to Clinton/Obama/Ireland/Italy and other deflections. I thought you'd be able to come back with statistics that back up the evidence of what you say. You can't because you are conditioned not to think for yourself. There are people on the left that also happens to so don't worry you are not alone. The group of the willfully ignorant is highly populated. As for some of the other comments directed at me it seems because I can articulate myself that people take an issue with it. Again the same folks just babble insults and offer no actual evidence for their assertions. As for blocking people with difffering political stances that happens on either side of the argument. One of Trumps groupies from this thread blocked me because of that reason. Now for all your talk about me calling out the U.S the reason I do is I have a vote in the U.S so it does hold an actual interest for me. I wonder do you have a vote or have family living in the U.S . Maybe you do. Besides that it's clear you are suffering from the Dunning Kruger effect.
