I live in Manhttan and have must have met about 100 irish guys and girls interning for the summer all over the city.....
Some say they will go back to Ireland and some want to stay in the states.....
This isn’t anything sexual.... I’m just asking because I want to know is this something new with Ireland being part of the EU or has this been going on for a long time? |

Irish students and post grads have a long runnibg tradition of traveling/working in the states for a summer or a year... you might notice more in NYC in the last few years as the Irish ecomony is picking back up afer a crash so these kids parents can afford to support them in more expensive Citys again |

Yep, even 30+ years ago when I was a student, the kids whose parents could stump up the airfare (which was similar back then in absolute terms to what it is now) went to the States for the long college summers - New York was the fashionable destination back then although I believe California is now.

"I'm not sure if Irish students on a J1 visa would like to be referred to as children but anyway
Especially after reading thread. Makes it a bit creepy. "
Creepy....... where did that come from?
I have lived in NYC my whole life and have never met so many Irish people..... they go out in groups of 5 or more and can be 50 to 100 irish people in one bar every time I go out.
It’s nothing sexual , I have just never met so many irish people before.....
So I came on here to ask a question..... because living in NYC for a summer is not cheap and all of the kids were not staying with family...
They are living in some of the most expensive neighborhoods in NYC... |
