Did you follow dream career plan or are you a million miles from it now?
At crossroads re study and work and would love to hear if anyone really ends up where they want to.. |

"Apparently at the tender age of 5 I told my mother I wanted to be a stripper.
Maybe there's still time.
Worldly 5yr old!
I dread to think what I saw to make me want that. "
Maybe you confused it with naturist??
(I know a great counsellor) |

Same, mine is neither what I wanted as a kid, nor is it what I studied at uni, but I enjoy it. |

When I was just a kid I always dreamed of doing what I am...
Unfortunately what I do now isn’t as exciting as what it used to be.
31 years this year and still going strong |

No I don't think we all know what we want to do or what we will be happiest doing...there is a huge difference between the two.
Best of luck with your career move op I hope you are happy in whatever you decide to do |

Can't share specific details on forums but I was directed down one career path in late teens. I followed it for some time and got pretty much as far as I could. Took a big risk some years later, following what I felt was my forte and I couldn't have been happier. Was a while before I earned the same money, then more, though I was happy going to work almost every day.
Follow your heart OP, after you get your exams |

That's one thing I never wanted to do as a job. It would take the fun out of it. |

I always knew what I wanted to study in college but never knew what career I would lead me to. So I did my degree and hoped for the best.
After working for a few years I went back to college by night for more qualifications which led to more job options, so I changed career a bit. After another few years I did another post grad and again had new opportunities open to me.
I swore I’d never study again but now I’m thinking maybe just maybe I’ll start something next year...
I gues what my experience has taught me is that you can always change your directon if you’re willing to try and that learning is never boring when it’s something that you want to do and when you know how much it can broaden your horizons.
Maybe those feckin nuns in school were right after all |

I'm similar, I'm happy in my career but finished my post grad last year and looking at doing more next year. It's always good to have an exit strategy! But my god the study is brutal |

Brutal doesn’t do it justice, but isn’t it amazing how you can forget the pain of something when you consider the joy it brings afterwards |

I wanted first to be a solider but that didn't work out next I wanted to be a paramedic but as I didn't have a licence I did some odd jobs mostly construction. Still thinking of doing the paramedic course in UK. Need to get my C licence sorted first. |

When i was a teenager i wanted to become a military historian , but in the country i grew up it would have required a military career path which was denied to me , So i studied winery . Those were the cheapest drinking years i ever had. After graduating i became a professional musician in a Salsa orquestra . Once i had my fill with traveling so many miles to make a living as a musician i became an accountant and later a business consultant . Still shut luads of mileage but better paid. Now I am in the process to become a luthier ...one day the travel will end and i just enjoy to make a new body of a guitar, forming the curves like the curves of the body of a luscious lady ...it’s living the dream for me |

"In 1994 I was in 1st year in school and we wrote letters to ourselves that were to be put in a time capsule and opened 10 years later in 2004.
I still have the letter. It's a funny read I have to say.
In it I wrote that "I want to be a rock star and fuck loads of bitches"
Well, I ain't a rock star and I don't fuck loads of bitches "
We did the same thing and I actually did what I wrote in my letter which was look after adults with intellectual disabilities. I integrate adults with intellectual disabilities into society and help them live a more "normal" life rather than living in a care home setting. |

Notions on being an Aer Lingus Pilot @ 17. Ended up at 37 with a career in IT. Love what I do now and would likely have hated the Pilot job going by chats I've had with others that have been there. |
