A friend of mine got a stud put in his ear and he said it was great.

I think it's a form of acupuncture. Look it up.

Had really bad ones for a decade, very expensive medication eased them but basically bed rest was the only relief. Mine disappeared almost completely when I was diagnosed as gluten intolerant and gave all gluten containing foods up. Now I only get them very rarely usually if I'm exhausted and don't rest when I should.

Sorry, I feel your painx

Could be sinus infection. I suffer myself particularly in changeable weather. Also could be a vitamin deficiency, maybe get your bloods done.

I suffer from Cronic migraines.

I have lots of different methods depending on how bad it gets.

Different people are affected differently and have different triggers. Some it's food, some it's stress and even the weather can trigger it.

Here are a few things I find help.

Wet a facecloth. Wring it out and place in the freezer wrapped loosly. Once frozen take it out pace over your eyes or on the back of your neck. Once it start to taw a bit unrap the face cloth and place over eyes and forhead.

Alternately you can buy a special ice pack mask (I've one now as well as a headache hat)

Believe it or not caffeine can help get rid of a migraine. But it's also important to stay hydrated.

I am on a preventive medication but it doesn't always work. I get the to the point I loose vision in one of my eyes and can become really ill.

Migraleave (pink tablet) is a good pain killer for migraine as it contains a active ingredient that helps stop the nausea (of you suffer that symptom)

If you can take it I suggest using Ibuprofen as a pain killer as it works as a anti inflammatory and mild blood thinner. ( If you are already on Anticoagulants do not take Ibuprofen).

Darkness is your friend so try find a dark room (also the facecloth helps with this)

Hope some of this helps as I know how hard they are to deal with.

Also talk to your GP and see if he will refer you to the migraine clinic in the Matter hospital. They will help find your triggers and also help with advice on how best to deal with them.

Since the weather has been quite hot people are experiencing headaches that don’t shift with pain killers. This is becaus when you sweat you loose a lot of your salts and potassium. Best thing is electrolytes from the chemist. Or coconut water and cucumber

If it’s a migraine what’s key is a regular sleep pattern and hydration and not 2L of water a day. The majority of the population are chronically dehydrated. You need to aim for 3L minimum. These will really help you fight them.

I used to suffer badly as a child, too much chocolate was my trigger, luckily they ceased completely as soon as I started puberty.

But like mentioned before, the only relief I got was a damp face cloth on my forehead, a dark room and sleep.

I have suffered migraines for past few years. Stress causes mine.

I am on Sumatriptan. Take 1 when I feel it coming on and a 2nd a few hours later if needed.

They are very good.

I also suffer from vertigo which the doc says is a secondary from the migranes.

Both been very bad these last few weeks so much so I endedup in A&E as my balance went weird.

Need to reassess what I eat and try to cut stress from my life a bit.

Hope you get your migranes sorted as they take overyour life.

Taking notes of what you eat on the days you get them can help you identify if theres a pattern, turned out orange juice and walnuts are triggers for my migraines and dehydration seems to trigger them too, they are aweful things to get and anyone whos never experienced one could never understand the pain,i once had a flash migraine and will admit i can see why people who get them consider death

I was cured when I got my daith pierced. Just before that I got Asprin powders off the Dr. They worked and fast acting. I'm sure you could probably get them without a prescription.

Maybe try the CBD oil.

There's a thread down further about it.

I think it works for migraines.

I was crippled with migraines for years, I tried everything from tablets that tore away my stomach lining leading to an ulcer, I tried cures, went to the optician more times than I can count and I accidentally stumbled upon the best relief ever when d*unk one night. A friend gave me a joint when and told me to try having a smoke the next time one came on. It’s changed my life.

I’m not advocating casually moving into recreational drugs but CBD oil would do the trick. It’s available both with THC (the compound that give some people the ‘high’ feeling) and without.

It might work for you and it mightn’t. Though it’s worth noting that when I told my GP about my alternative treatment he thought it was a great idea though somewhat unorthodox.

Records are ur best friend when see a specialist for this disability record every day the intensity from 1 to 10, what u have taken for to relive the pain strange as it sounds stay away from paracetamol more than four a month and a migraine clinic will consider u an addict. Imagrin when the migraine hints at starting can be a good first line weapon in ur arsenal for some of the other preventive like topamax ull need to see one of the specialist in this area, be carefull there are some who say they are specialists but they are not up to scratch on the latest treatments. There s a drug just off clinical trials approved by the FDA but not yet by the European medicines board however it's expected it will be cleared by the latter before the end of the year. This new wonder drug has trough trials worked for 90% of patients suffering 7 to ten days a month with no side effects giving them back their life however for more sever suffers those on 25 to 30 days a month we have yet to see a complete trial. The Irish migraine association is one of the most progressive in the world and well informed on the developments going on in this field it's well worth contacting them and getting the info from them

There s a consultant in Beaumont migraine clinic also works out of the heritage he's name escapes me at the moment as often as I have met him who trained under a Dr goadsby an Aussie heading up the world wide research into migraine if u can get to see him he's a light at the end of the tunnel

Google Phillip goadsby he has published some great research which may help u

Living with the fourth most common disability for over 15yrs we have seen a lot of quacks and medicine men that have trough science and homeopathy having cures but having tried a variety of them to no avail we live in hope that this new wonder drug will be cleared by the Irish medicines board and funded by the HSE for probably what will be a small group of chronic suffers

I too have found Excedrin great. I take it and lie down listening to Binaural Beats for Migraine. It triggers the part of your head that eases the pain. Lavender has also helped me along with the cold compress while lying in a hot lavender scented bath.

Basically I'll try anything that will relax me enough to fall asleep.

And as advised earlier get your blood checked too. I've been told that the increase in mine could be because of very low iron levels.
