I’m a dog lover but I draw the line of letting them into pubs and restaurants.

Ireland is spoiling its Mutt population stupid. We’ve Americanised what it is to be a dog owner.

Gone be the days when we all had a mongrel we could let roam the streets, play with the kids and it would return home at night for a can of chum.

It is the pits. I bring my pit everywhere with me even to work

And if I do leave him home his big pitbull head does be in the window waiting for me

I couldn't llet him run around rho as he attacks all male dogs on sight.and he's not very friendly to strangers either.its best he stays with his daddy

I have 2 dogs, neither of them are "city" dogs. Live in the country so they are used to wide open spaces. In Sligo with me now in Olympic training mode. Chasing after rabbits for miles up and down sand dunes and catching nothing but happy out. The rotti does have a presence but I've never had a more obedient or gentle dog.

A lot of people still let them roam around unattended and not bothered what damage they are doing.Just ask a farmer what damage a dog can do.

A dangerous dog ... you need to get him trained as in training classes before something awful happens .

Don’t agree - mainland Europe has always been far more accommodating with pets than we have - it’s commonplace to see then in restaurants and hotels. Incidentally they’re better behaved than children here in restaurants

Im sorry but that is a typical reply of an irresponsible dog owner.....its not the dogs fault its yours ... he needs to be taught to behave well around others not encouraged to be ferocious .

That is pure rubbish. I have a 90lb rotweiler. He's never had a row with another dog, he meets other dogs on walks all the time. He's not aggressive unless a stranger arrives at house and they don't normally exit a car or van.

There is no fault with the dog so nobody is at fault

Hes mainly a guard dog as I work from home and my tools and machines are irreplaceable as I built them myself

He's a dominant unneutered male so of course he won't like others like him. That's the world of big dogs for you

A dog bred for a specific purpose is fine with me but sometimes you can correlate the intelligence of a person by the dog they own and how that person allows the dog to behave. A responsible dog owner would be cognisant of their responsibilities and the law if they owned a breed that is defined as a dangerous dog.

Can’t stand people though who let their little pooches sh1te on a pavement or park and don’t pick up after them.

Sounds like your dog is a good watchdog but I'd say not a good guard dog

He will bark and throw shapes but wouldn't follow that thru if needed be

Not sure you are the ideal owner for a powerful dog. It appears that he is the alpha male when it should be you. He shoukd look up to you and know what's right and acceptable and what isn't. No dog should attack another dog no matter what the circumstances.

100% agree with this. The breed gets a bad name because they are not trained properly or unfortunately intentionally trained to be aggressive. No excuse for not neautering a dog. We don’t have a canine shortage in Ireland

Ridiculous statement about neutering dogs. Absolutely ridiculous

You show me a GUARD dog that backs down from an other challenging male dog and I'll show you a shit guard dog that will back down from an intruder

Anybody that knows dogs would consider your dog a guard dog. If he's always with you even at work what's he guarding. You have an uneducated immature view of a good dog. A good dog is a trained dog. Like a child it should know right from wrong. A good dog appreciates and thrives on direction and affection in equal measure. Your dog is an illmannered dangerous animal who could easily kill a child or another innocent dog. This is not South Africa where they train dogs to kill people, and even those dogs are very highly trained. I just find your immature uneducated attitude on dogs annoying. I wish you and your dog good luck as i feel you will need it.

My workshop wasn't always at home and now it is.

Like I said my workshop contains tools and machines I have built from scratch. They are irreplaceable

Good luck with your dog and home and property as I feel you too will need it

You don't know my dog or my property

By unfriendly to strangers I'd mean he's wary of strangers on my property even after I've acknowledged them as friends. I know when to lock him up

Nothing unusual in a good guard dog
