Hi folks,ok im not very good on technology so any replies would need to be explained to me,i dont know what a firestick is or all that.
Basically im sick of paying crazy money to Sky...i do like the programmes etc but finding the cost is rising all the time. So Im hoping someone can explain simply to me what options i have which may allow me to keep the channels but via an alternative means!!
So ive good broadband with Eir with good connectivity and decent speeds. My modem is in the hall and my tv is in the sitting room.I don't want a cable going across the rooms. At the moment Ive a sky wifi remote thing.
What i want is the ability to record programmes also as i use the sky plus remote option alot.I also want HD.my tv is 10 years old so its not a smart tv.
Again to those who are good enough to reply, please explain to me what my options are and what the lingo used means and how easy it is to set up considering im not great with technology. (I dont know what kodi and firesticks are etc)...Thanks a million.
Ps:i know some will say stick with sky but finding it hard to justify the bills.Thanks.

I had IPTV and it works well , i didn’t have any option to record but then again do you really need to record when you can find other ways of streaming movies and series via a Kodi app or other Android apps |

If you're out of contract with Sky give them a call. Tell them you're leaving. You'd love to stay a customer buy you can't afford the price increases. They'll probably come back with an offer. Don't accept it. Let them kick in the 31 day notice for leaving. You'll hopefully get somewhere between 50-60 percent off by the end of those 31 days.
Don't just accept the price you're quoted for anything. Same goes for car insurance, home insurance, anything like that.
I'm in NI so fall under UK providers but the same applies everywhere. Look at Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert website |

IPTV would be way to go, though for sports not as reliable as it was but for all other people tv shows and films very good. Terrium tv great app on Android. If you get fire stick or box most providers will walk you thru setup |

I rang sky last week as my bill had gone up again. Just asked tgem to cancel the lot. Within 3 minutes they offered to cut the bill down to €60 for tv broadband and home phone. Worth giving them a ring.
For sports I use streamtvnow . €10 a month for every sport you can think of. I find prime pretty useless but that's just a content preference on my part. I really only watch sports and netflix/boxsets these days but every week a new provider pops up. Plenty of options so don't get tied to sky out of habbit |

"Get a box...15euro a month...unlimited channels...via broadband
Are they streamed then?"
Yep...steaming box...and you are applied for choice...You can have anything you think of...any channel and it's so HD not 4K...yet...so it is worth it. |

Don't get me wrong...android box is kind of...can glitch at times..with this you can have like sky box with hard drive so it means you can record...etc...I know few places...but not sure about your area... . Just look for Stream HD Sat Tv in a way...
I hope this kind of helped. |

No...all you need is any access to the internet...it has its own mother board with hard drive and it works like magic...no need for high speed internet I think minimum is 5GB but I'm sure you have more. |

You plug your box like sky box...some even are skyboxes lol...plug your lower2 and DSL cable...that's it. There is a small catch..I'd you can call it...it depends on your box...as a you cam get extremely high end etc...installation with the box is around 150_200 European pessos...but you don't pay anything for the year...after just 10_15 euro a month for unlimited access in HD any...anything you want...I have friend at work he is from Sri Lanka...fellas from Asia...Irish fella...they all have it...it works man...any channel you can think of...Just have to specify your self which you which you want to have...cause obviously you won't watch all of them...xxx HD as well |

That sounds like a zgemma box, mag box are a great job. But it all depends on where your getting streams from, good suppliers are hard to find and sports are hard to get reliable streams for big occasions. |

I paid £90 for 2 lines of iptv...one is setup pn a zgemma box i had when card sharing worked..great for recording stuff..the other line is on firestick and works on my phone too...iptv is a great way to go folks without the big bills from the big providers..
You will get alot more channels as well as movie and tv show boxsets..than say sky |

If you get a box with iptv and its best to go get wifi home plugs and plug one into router and the other into the iptv box to get ethernet rather than wifi as speeds wond drop asmuch although iv a firestick wirelessly and iptv and works perfect does freeze the odd time and iv 100mg download wifi speed but no iptv is flawless but cheaper option and very reliable i have iptv on another box through homeplugs also and works similar to the firestick freezes the odd time 2 different iptv servers. Iptv servers can get shut down and you loose your channels then but its a gamble ya take |

This may happen now n then your channels going down but if you have a good provider there usually on the ball right and quick and get it all ip and running in no time...them guys will always be updating there servers and usually inform folk of any workthey will be doing and get things going asap...beats spending anything from 30-60 a month sure |
