How high do they have to be for a meet? I can't walk in those yokes anymore and using a Zimmerframe to move forward with them just isn't that sexy ...

Same, I just can’t walk in them anymore . Hard to believe I used to walk back from city centre when we missed the last bus ( 7/8 miles ) in stilletoes when I was a teenager . I could run in them as well ( running for the last bus ) . Couldn’t walk to the car in them now !

Would it be acceptable to wear runners or Ecco sandals up to the bed and then change into the heels?

I'm the same so i just don't wear them ... I've beautiful shoes with a medium heel,I feel fantastic in them so that's what I wear

Buying heels half a nr bigger helps also. Allows the feet to swell without hurting after hours of wearing them.

I'd fall over without even walking with 6". But I've a step stool that height if that's any good...
