Did you read the story? It's chilling intentionality removed condoms etc tried to make out that one of the women gave him the virus but was caught out when it was found he was tested and hiv positive a year before he met the woman hopefully he gets the life sentence available to the judge |

Frightening to think about , one of the women fell ill and went to the doctor for tests thinking she had stomach issues and was told she was h i v positive after having routine bloods drawn .how wreckless would you have to be to knowingly put others at such risk , the woman later gave birth to his child who thankfully was h i v negative due to interventions made whilst the mother was carrying said child. |

Like i say i just caught the jist of it on the news but since read more in the papers. Im gonna get grief for this but if he is African and commits such a horrendous crime surely he should be deported after he serves his time |

Never mind waiting until he serves his time as previously said he probably wont live out his semtence he should be deported now back to his own country and serve his time there where it is proper jail not like here where they get it easy he is a monster |

While in prison he will get the best of medical help & hiv medication ... he will live his life, get parole and probably go on to do it again |

HPV is deemed to be a cause of Cervical Cancer ... a vaccine regeim is in place for teens ... my understanding is the vaccine has to be given before peoplr are sexually active .. but passing on HPV would be deemed accidental ... knowing you have HIV and passing it on is malicious |

That's good news in a way. Fortunately HIV isn't what it was a couple of decades ago and sticking to medication can lead to your immune system getting back to normal and stop you being contagious, even mother to child in pregnancy, but that doesn't negate what this bastard did.
Intentionally passing it on to people is absolutely disgusting and this guy deserves the worst possible outcome. Death sentence is too painless for this fucker so stop his meds so he can die a slow painful death from the usual diseases people contract when immune system is low.
I'm not usually sadistic in anyway but prison is too good for him. |

Both now you mention it. Is there any difference? Both seem to be intentional. One is easier to say as it is distanced, yet both come from the sane source and reflective of ones inner self. |

We need to get tougher on crime, most sentences are ridiculous and as stated this guy prob live comfortably in jail as opposed to being deported. I hear trump is making noises about death penalty for pedophiles |

Well while HIV is no longer a terminal illness, it's still a chronic disorder that will stay with the person for life (unless a cure is found which looks fairly possible from recent breakthrough with CRISPR) and someone who intentionally gives it to someone deserves absolutely no mercy. |

I don't disagree that he should be dealt with in an appropriate manor as with any crime. As someone implied already penalties reflect our lenient society on most things. It is one of the results of a society that is acceptance of most things, one feels sorry for everyone.
There was a thread yesterday about cheaters and was amazing how many thought it was acceptable, yet the mess, hurt, pain and sometimes illness that it causes seems to be ok by most posters, I'm guessing by some remarks, for fear of recriminations from other fabbers.
Making correction is now deemed as judging and is no longer acceptable in our all inclusive lenient society. Yet many who feel no punishment is hard enough for this guy would most likely condemn countries that this hold the death sentence or life imprisonment locked away in squalid conditions.

I think lenient sentences are to keep the status quo between cops and criminals
They generally don't shoot cops and the system doesn't the book at them
I think the only guy doing natural life in Ireland killed a cop. I forget details

Killing a serving garda is a capital crime, I.e. one which used to automatically carry the capital sentence of death, but is now commuted to imprisonment for life. The longest serving prisoner currently is an Englishman who was convicted about 40 years ago with another man (who has since died in prison) for the murders of two women. |
