Just watched the 6.01 new and had to laugh at Brian O Donovan's take on President Trumps summit in Singapore.
Trump got Kim to agree to give up all their nuclear weapons , etc etc but Brian reckons Kim did a better deal being on a red carpet in Singapore. WTF
Why O why Irish media and journalists only like negative news even when potentially millions of lives were saved today.

North Korea previously pledged denuclearization in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016. Each pledge was a lie.
He also got Trump to dump one of it's allies South Korea and call off military partnerships aimed at protect those in the Pacific area. So far Kim has given up nothing but Trump has made South Korea look extremely open to attack. It's not really about patting Trump on the back. It's about analyzing the cost of such an ego building deal |

I'm not into politics but no other sitting president of the US ever sat down with the leader in Korea and in previous promises to denuclearize what did the US offer? There has to be half way points and losing battles to win wars. He deserves credit for even talking to N.K. |

Oh yes I totally agree but the manner in which he went about it was baffling on so many levels. Again just to point out he hasn't achieved anything yet. Congress are already turning on him over the few details leaked and they have to pass the deal. It's a step in the right direction but again it's nothing more than a photo op until inspector's visit the sites |

But sure Trump has been baffling since he came into office with his tact, mannerisms and total disregard for so-called normal protocol.
Nothing new with how he dealt with North Korea. |

A vague promise from a tinpot dictator where they enslave their people and he's praied by Trump. The family have not kept their promise before and it's going to be interesting to see if Kim Jong Un is different in this regard. There seems to be a lot of disagreement with the removal of troops from both sides of the political spectrum in the states.
If it does work out then hats off to him for doing so. Maybe he will as it may take someone who seems to have admiration for dictatorial types to get this type of arrangement to succeed. |

He deserves credit for sitting down with one of the last great dictators who is responsible for overseeing the absolute misery, starvation and murder of his own poeple?? By doing this, Trump gives this man and his regime legitimacy, the exact reason Obama, Bush, Clinton and every other president DIDNT!! trump walked away from the "deal" with nothing that wasnt already on the table in the first place. And what did he give up? Security assurances to the US's two main allies in the region, S Korea and Japan, not to mention whatever he had to give China, tbe REAL power behind this deal. All of this on top of how he has single handedly destroyed the G7, openly wuestions and vilifies NATO.. oddly just what the Russian would love to see..
Trump is concerned only with Trump, how he is perceived with his base, thats it, anyone who believes otherwise is a fool |

So he should just do nothing like the previous presidents? Or better yet go in all guns blazing like Obama and Bush with other dictators before him. No matter what Trump does he's gunna be criticised, simple as that. Plus the US have always done what they wanted with the G7. They've been pulling out and disagreeing on climate change measures for years even. They suit themselves no matter who is in change. Everyone is kidding themselves if they think otherwise. |

Trump will get the Nobel peace prize if north Korea gets rid of nuclear weapons!!!
I DON'T like him or anything he stands for BUT employment soaring in America, stockmarket at record highs, American companies making massive profits, pulled the plug on an Iran deal that's working out . Pulled out of trade agreements with no loss to America, trade tariffs to boost American made metals.
He is the most odious reprehensible of people but he is getting results by challenging the norm and taking a different path.
He will be re-elected in 2022 and other world leaders will start to follow his lead.

Tell me what other presidents done that has worked with N.K? Quiet a few had a go. And are you gunna argue that there's a huge population that will never give trump credit? Cause I can tell you there is. Finally the US has always suited themselves regardless of who is in charge. Finally tell me what would have been successful from Trump on N.K? They supposedly have nuclear weapons and a crazy person in charge. They don't really care about their population struggling so sanctions only go so far. Theres not many options if you really want to get results. Talking is a good first move. |

Obama created more jobs year on year, even in the years after the financial crises. The stock market is high because the WORLD economy is high, dow companies are global and not dependant on the American market. Iran deal was working fine, noone knows whete the chips will fall but the rest of the western powers still support ut, Trump took the us out simply because it was Obamas deal and not his. Too early yo see how pulling out of trade agreements will go. Trade wars because of US punitive tariffs will hurt everyone including the Americans, how much are you currently paying to fill your car..?? |

Do ypu honestly think that other Presidents didnt try to solve the N Korea problem?? Of course they did! But none of them would meet with the Kims because its absolutely the wrong thing to do!! This meeting isnt be because of Trump, its because of Kim. N Koreans made massive advances in thier misdile technology in the last 2 years, probably with China's help, and finally developed a rocket capable of hitting the US, and then they decide to talk, from a position of strengh! Trump is the puppet on a string here, but he doesnt care becase the Trumptards back home watching Fox will eat it up |

Well if they have a rocket capable of hitting the US then it's smart to start talking isn't it? America can't actually do anything to China or atleast I don't think the have the balls to so besides increased sanctions the only other option is to start talking. |

Challenging the norm maybe atm but really hes just revisiting tactics of past failed dictators who almost got what they wanted the only positive I see with trump nasty as it may seem is his age...but your right others may follow because really it's all about resources and politicians will always do what it takes to keep an economy healthy |

Obama did but the ordinary how doesn't see that. The stock market is at record levels led by American companies that have been given huge incentives to repatriate there cash and invest in the US. America is the world's largest economy and worlds biggest consumer so it is driving the world economy.
Trump pulled out of trade agreements because they were Obamas but also because he saw the business side of the deal and so far, while early, it is having the effect of being positive for america.
Trade tariffs hurt everyome agreed but only if they are reciprocated which the EU is afraid to do because they are cowards. No matter what they won't piss off the US government . As for fuel costs that's a result of a booming economy, under Obama we had record high fuel prices.
Again in not a fan of trump but he's getting results . |

It's hard to read some of the negative crap , why other Presidents didn't do this that or the other.
Whatever way you look at Trump ,love him or hate him, he has changed politics forever and more and more countries will follow suit and get in seasoned business men to get shit done.
More than likely other Presidents didn't do this that or the other is because they were too lazy and preferred waving at a crowd or just didn't have the balls , guts and determination that Trump certainly has.
I know some of you guys would rather the primary school teacher or the local independent lunatics running our country but in my humble option we could badly do with the likes of Trump. |

The hypocrisy of fox news was exposed again when footage was compiled of them slating Obama when he said he'd be willing to meet with the likes of NK et al.
Which was then followed up by them calling for the Nobel prize for trump doing the same.

That's true. Plenty have. I don't remember the same rhetoric from them on how much they loved the military and the narcissism of possibly being the greatest us president ever. When someone sets themselves up as the number 1 the stakes get higher. |

"The hypocrisy of fox news was exposed again when footage was compiled of them slating Obama when he said he'd be willing to meet with the likes of NK et al.
Which was then followed up by them calling for the Nobel prize for trump doing the same.
"If our guy does it, it isn't bad"
Fox news is home of the gimp Sean Hannity. Says enough. They're not all as bad as him but it's as close to state tv at the moment as America is going to get. A joke of a "news" outlet.
You forgot to mention CNN...Fake news and the rest of the liberal networks who refuse to report the news"
Are you for real?? |

"America is a failed state. Don't you think you and others like you should be more concerned about your own country and let the Americans run their own country how they see fit. "
Just because I'm concerned for one country doesn't mean I've no concern for my own.
While I agree we're not perfect, and there's a lot of work to be done, we're a damn site better than that shitshow across the pond.

"Just watched the 6.01 new and had to laugh at Brian O Donovan's take on President Trumps summit in Singapore.
Trump got Kim to agree to give up all their nuclear weapons , etc etc but Brian reckons Kim did a better deal being on a red carpet in Singapore. WTF
Why O why Irish media and journalists only like negative news even when potentially millions of lives were saved today. RTE are full of shite I’m afraid x

Because we as irish should understand better than any the plight of refugees and immigrants trying to build a life for themselves! Yet he taljs of building a wall.. what next, should we seperate children from parents at the border and put them in cages??
This is the world that Trump and his ilk breed, where these ideas and policies are acceptable, sure lets just start sewing yellow stars on immigrant, yeah? |

Did you see him saying that during his campaign 1000's of the parents of those soldier's bodies left in Korea after the war had asked him to get them back. Only problem is that the youngest any of those parents could be is 100 years old I think he might be full of shit on that one |

A true US President or so called world leader should not generate the extremes of love and hate that the current incumbent generates. A modicum of common sense and decency would be welcome. Maybe he should remove the blinkers.
Just a personal opinion

Further to the religious affiliation of whom voted for Trump according to pew research white evangelicals voted in the region of 80% for Trump. Looking deeper in that figure it is easier to see why many of his base remain resolute.
People who believe a zombie jewish carpenter fucked his own mother to be born only to take a 3 day nap at the end of his life and be a sacrifice to himself for the sins of billions of people who had not been born yet. If those folks believe as many do that donmeys and snakes talked.. that a worldwide global flood happened with 500 yr old men building boats to hold thousands of animals with literally zero scientific basis to back up the claims. When they believe in creationism as opposed to accepting evolution. When many of them believe the earth to be circa 6/10k years old. It really isn't difficult to see that a lack of critical thinking skills en masse within a high population demographic can be easily exploited and manipulated by a snake oil salesman. Belief in Trump is not such a long stretch if someone believes in the rest of the fjction. Folks like that are easily impressed by grandiose statements with little to no evidence to back them up.
As Robert DeNiro said.. "Fuck Trump". |

It's not fun to make light of someone's religion, I'm not a practising Catholic myself but that's beside the point.
Slating other peoples believes does not make you a better person. As long as someone's believes aren't hurting anyone of infringing any laws leave them be.

There is seperation of church and state in the United States. Using the bible as a reason for keeping kids in cages is most certainly hurting people. Beliefs don't have feelings. A belief in nonsense is just that. It's an intellectual failure to believe without evidence something that is so devoid of reality. Is there a god ? Possibly but it ain't the one of the bible.
I'm not saying a better person or a worse person but these are the types of folks that will quite often as we see since Trump took office take comfort in their tribal racist/homophobic/transphobic ways. They can have their beliefs but it does not come with the caveat that the belief is exempt from ridicule. |

As for being a catholic or not.. there are approx 4,000/4,200 religions in the world so implying as I seem to think you are not religious because you are not a practicing catholic is like saying you don't eat because you don't regularly eat fish. |

Maybe it's time to stop comments folks.
No point getting into aggro about a wig wearer, or anything else, for that matter.
Let's all let the thread die and find more constructive discussions, preferably Fab related |
