They filmed a pilot about ten years ago. It had Richard Ayoade and Joel McHale (community) as the Roy character. It was identical to the UK pilot. It wasn't picked up, thankfully. |

Yeah was just having a read, as of Dec 2017 they are hoping for a remake, which is their third attempt at sending it to the U.S. According to Linehan, so long as nobody expects the same show was the UK version, everyone will be happy |

I agree. American remakes can be alright as long as they do their own thing, like the Office and not the Inbetweeners.
That said, the UK are guilty of terrible remakes as well. Look at the pilot of the English version of That 70s Show. |
