Judging books by their covers

I was reading a thread and someone stated you don't judge a book by its cover. But you do, you walk into a bookshop and you look at the covers. If we didn't why do books have covers and not just plain white covers with black text on them?

Yep, there's a reason why chick lit has all pink or pastel shades on the cover and soft lettering etc....

Interestingly enough i think, on the flip side, people can judge a cover by the book.

Not a book but with Abby Road. The Beatles literally said "fuck it, let's just go outside the front door and take the album cover and get it over and done with". And because the album was so good it became one of the most iconic album covers of all time.

I’ve been caught out by this so many times I’ve stopped trying to figure people out by appearance. Studied marketing so I know how false things can be. Unfortunately we don’t take as much time here sometimes buying into profiles and people here as we would buying a book or its contents... That was so deep I forget what was trying to say

Ah you have to read the whole book to know exactly what it's about.

Lift the book and flick through the pages a bit to get to know the gist of it

Plenty of people judge a book by its cover. You won’t know what they are like if you don’t have some interaction with them. Shallow people but that’s how life is. You can tell in life within a few seconds what people are like. On Fab, you can tell the bullshitters from their second mail.

A book cover is like a woman's bra very misleading.A bra can be full of padding but when you open them you find very little breast. Just as a book cover can have lots of words but when you open the book very little story.

But it also depends on the subject matter. If your looking for a thriller you won’t look in the romance section no matter what the cover looks like.
