Only Fools and Horses, Friends, Frasier, Cheers, Big Bang Theory (the geek in me), Blackadder (depending on series), Jeeves and Wooster, original Roseanne.
Probably more not coming to mind at this hour. |

"Seriously???
Has to be only fools and horses surely "
Have to agree. The writing was fantastic. The casting was perfect . For me it was a beautiful comedic microcosm of the day to day struggles and joys of real life.
I think as much as people wanted Del and Rodney to succeed it was their failures and sense of family that made those who watched them really connect with the characters in a meaningful way.
Their struggles when looked at with older and wiser eyes shows that happiness is not the result of riches nor the destination at the end of a journey. Happiness is choosing to engage witb the journey and chossing to be happy in the mind despite exterior events not neccesarily working out to perfection.
It showed the strength and togetherness of loved ones who can come through bad times and be fundamental building blocks in each others recivery.
A fantastic show that I never get sick of and the older I get the more intelligent I realise the writers were in how they perceived society. |

Wow, couldn't have, and wouldn't even try to, put it better myself
Such a well written show. Will still be quoted from in 50 years time when most modern comedies will be long forgotten. |

Thank you for your kind words. Very much appreciated. It certainly was a gem of a show. The kind of show where "they don't make 'em like they used to" certainly rings true ! |

Your elegant prose of recollection has made me add Minder. A great series, with George Cole and Dennis Waterman. Had humour and violence but not much. Always loved the original, not so much the rehash. |

Not sure if Fawlty Towers would qualify as a sitcom but it's definitely one of the funniest shows ever."
Seriously?? It took this long for someone to mention Father Ted?? |

Ah I think it would be classed as a sitcom alright. Certainly my favourite of all time, I could watch it on endless repeat. Every episode was hilarious, no filler.
Only Fools and Horses was fantastic. I loved Cheers... I always think it doesn’t get enough of a mention. The back and forth with Sam and Diane was so funny, the chemistry between them was perfect.
Never got round to watching Fraser but anyone I know who saw it loved it. |

Sitcom = situation comedy
Fawlty towers = comedy situated primarily in a Hotel, think it might qualify
And for me a close second after only fools and horses . |

WTF?
You should bring that to the pulpit Sunday. You'd have the church full to the rafters in no time. Seriously, consider offering sermon writing to the catholic church. They could use someone like you and should pay you a fortune! |
