Should we build more apartment blocks in this country to help with the housing problem, or do we have enough as it is? Is it a case of ‘if they build it they will come’ ?

To be honest what they need to do is to control the rent. Landlords/ladies are getting away with crazy things

Newbridge

Money needs to be spent to refurbish old exsisting vacant buildings. There are enough exsisting buildings that if fixed up would house everyone. Rent needs to be capped (Will never happen unfortunately as alot of TD's are landlords). Our generation is sadly being pushed out of the buyers market and are stuck pumping dead money into the rental sector.

by a lake with my rod out

The problem is the height limit they have in place. I agree in certain areas to a height cap but in others we should be building up

I read over 30% of TDs are landlords. Are they really that pushed?

Something needs to be done and maybe compelling owners of derelict building to redevelop or pay a tax would certainly help breed life back into some areas.not so sure about going to high as the social depraveration that causes is to high a price to pay

There's a scheme now if you own a second home but it's not in the best condition and you're not using it you can get it done up by the government for free if you agree to make it available for rent. Only caught a few seconds of it on the news this week so don't know all the ins and outs or even what the scheme or project is called.

Yes but like all schemes there's a catch to it however if it brings more property's back to the market on with it
