I remember back in the day you could eat it raw as it was actually cooked (boiled) prior to you buying it. However most black is not made in the traditional sense anymore and after that hole foot and mouth fiasco you were told to stop eating it raw
My grandfather would often have a sneaky bit when cooking up some. |
