Ireland Forum Getting Boring

Hello Ireland. North and South. The Ireland forum used to be a fun place and a fun way to get away from the normal tortures of Fab. However, it is increasingly becoming a wilderness here on the Ireland forum. There is no craic anymore in the Ireland forum. What's happening?

I think everything that is been said in the forum has is alright been put up by someone else, so it's like you reading something you already read few days ago.

Own view on this...

...but it's become a case where some people start threads asking stupid questions (that they have their conclusion already about) as a means just to simply get attention and engagement...

There's little if any originality on the forums... Case in point the bloody "Good Morning" thread. Seriously and as for the regurgiated Chuck Norris jokes that weren't even funny in the 1990's

Look, I know it's a swinging site but any chance of thinking a little more "outside the box" than what's here??

I'm new to the forum thingy. But I am old like to chat too like minded people and have the crac with fellow fabbers. I find hard to get to meet people in the flesh so to speak. But let's get the chat started on here..D xx

Kinda ironic but you're restating a topic that gets raised often

I even put similar up myself a few weeks ago about Ireland forumite defection to The Lounge and have done it myself more often since.

I do always lean towards here but when it's full, I head to The Lounge.

Same here JD, if nada is going on here I pop over to the lounge as the topics are more diverse. I have gone weeks on end where I didn't post on the forum's because it was in such dire need of CPR. What can we do as we all know moaning isn't the answer.

It seems that when there is any topic worth chatting about, things get heated fairly quickly. I blame the pc society.

It's not getting boring, it is boring. Forum comes and goes in waves however this time someone pulled the plug. Hard to say what's the cause most likely a mix of things ie kik groups, trolling, compulsive post reporters etc etc

Some never liked and understood the lively Irish forum, I hope they're happy now.

If the forums bore you, why not start a thread that interests you? Granted, i may repeat post stuff like fabathons or the like but its done with the intention of getting people talking to each other

I think I probably contributed a small bit to the death of this place by calling out comments I didn't think were banter. Half sorry and half not. People are probably getting more action in the kik groups anyway haha

Revealing chinks in the forum armour has resulting in me being banned in the past. So I won't.

Well maybe it's a bit too pc these days plus there are many who love reporting people for nonsense. So people, i feel, don't express their true feelings through fear of a forum ban. Just a thought.

I always express my opinions, it is entirely possible to do this without breaking forum rules.

I agree to a certain extent, the problem is that forum rules like any other rules are a question of interpretation and borders can be somewhat diffuse. Also what some regard as offence others might not. Finally I've seen peeps being set up on here, reported and fetching a ban for posts that didn't differ in content of my own posts but I wasn't in the ban fire line.

I can honestly say I have never read a rule here in my life but I have seen people getting 24/48 hr forum bans etc for peanuts. whether it comes from reporting or mods taking a ridiculous approach, I'm not sure. usually the first bit of argy bargy on a thread and it's pulled

I think it's more to do with people being unable to resist taking personal digs at others.

I was banned for 48 hrs once because there was an English woman visiting Ireland and asking to be barebacked by as many men as possible and some guy put up a thread gushing over her and had her name in the thread and everyone was like "who is she?", "does this person exist?" and I was like "her name is "......." he clearly stated it in the thread" and I got banned for naming her haha she was named in the thread title and opening paragraph but people didn't notice and I pointed it out and got a ban.

My many visits to the Naughty Step have probably tamed my posts somewhat, sometimes justified, occasionally not, in my opinion. I certainly do try to express my opinion on threads that interest me and attempt to do so within the parameters but there have been occasions where I may have been a little too blunt.

I agree with DH above that some have been put up to be shot down but haven't seen it in a while, thankfully.

Yes, sometimes admin seem to act against specific responses and not all individuals concerned but I'm not sure this is the forum for that debate.

I agree with you John. A lot of the trolls have jogged on but some are still lurking. The more controversial posters have left or been given lifetime bans. Some who didn't deserve them. They kept the forum lovely. Bring them back I say.
