I was brought up with loads of superstitions (I'd say most Irish people were) but after a year or two battle to give them up I'm not one bit superstitious anymore. The shit was getting out of hand. Waving at magpies, afraid to throw out a little mirror in case in broke, refusing to wear no. 13 in any sport... |

Waving at magpies? Never even heard of that one, now I know where I've been going wrong all my life!!
For the record, not remotely superstitious. Shit happens sometimes. |

Some superstitions make sense like don't walk under a ladder! However, I nearly got knocked down stepping off the pavement into traffic to avoid going under a ladder once 
Stevie Wonder would have been proud that I risked life and limb!
Since then mostly no I don't indulge in it.

Maybe that's why it's a black spot people blessing themselves instead of driving? |
