There was a thread earlier that touched on this but I wanted to post more on this topic
"A men's health issue is a disease or condition unique to men, more prevalent in men, more serious among men, for which risk factors are different for men, or for which different interventions are required for men" (Fletcher 1996)
Men in Ireland suffer a lot in silence, it's seen as un manly, a weakness even to seek help.
So I urge you all if you notice something new on your body, have a pain that won't go away. Get it checked, early intervention is key and may just save your life
If you are feeling anxious, depressed or can't seem to cope, remember it's okay to not be okay
it's normal to suffer a mental health issue but you don't have to suffer in silence.
The strongest man is the one who asks for help.

Very welcome, it's an important topic to me. I always do my best to raise awareness.
If anyone wants links to any organisations I'll see if I can post them here |

"I have a lady friend who suffers very bad with depression. I try my best to be there for her . "
Being there is always the first step, make sure to listen to her and try not to be judgemental, try encourage her to seek professional help as with therapy, medication, even simple exercise you can manage depression and learn how to deal with the "black dog"
Self help books and groups have also been known to be good for some people |
