Am I naive or was the response harash?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I had been chatting to a very popular UK based lady on here for some time. We had exchanged face pic's and had had quite a lot of banter. Often she would say goodbye as she had to go to work. Now I know that privacy is of utmost importance to a lot of people on here and that private life is for a lot of people just that. Private. I sent the following question and was immediately blocked.

" May I ask? What sector do you work in? Hospitality, retail, I.T., manufacturing, service industry, etc, etc.

I don't need to know exact info just would like to know in general."

Obviously for her, I crossed a line.

Was I being naive or was her response a little harash? Any thought's?

Slight over reaction maybe, given that you were chatting for a while, but each to their own I suppose. Maybe she didn't want to discuss her personal life?

Bit harsh on her part but obviously she'd rather keep that private it's a strange one alright xx

Mayo

I think it was harsh seeing as you posed the question "May I ask ?"

I suppose like all Ladies on here, she is part of the minority and therefore pretty much has her pick of who and what she wants to reply to.

Hadn't thought of that. I know that from time to time the "who's near" feature acts up and places people a bit closer. But I would not of thought by that much as I'm in Cork and she was in London.

Maybe she told you already and thought to herself, this lad is not listening, I'm out!

your imagination

"Maybe she told you already and thought to herself, this lad is not listening, I'm out!"

That's a fair point... If I find that I'm having to repeat myself while chatting to someone... or answer questions that are already covered in my profile text, I'll just get fed up and lose interest.

Seems a bit mad to me. Personally I would have carried on chatting but just avoided answering that particular question.

Maybe she’s had an issue with someone tracking her down at work before. I have had a previous meet try to add me on social media before....

Me too, I've ignored such questions before but not blocked a person for it so maybe there's a more to her reasoning for blocking the OP or maybe not.

"why did you need to know? "

I didn't "need" to know. It just intrigued me as to what such an attractive, charming, sentual, clever and funny Lady might do for a living. As in my mind, this lady could have entered any professional circle in life and succeeded.

I don't see any problem with the question of itself, but some people are paranoid about giving away even a hint of personal information, no matter how broad (and for all you know they may have had a stalker before), or perhaps it followed other questions on your part that she,(rightly or wrongly) deemed intrusive, maybe she tired of you, maybe she's just a diva...

The possibilities are endless...

Maybe she did and has but still don’t see why it would matter

Seems a bit harsh if you both had been chatting for a while. All she had to do was say that she would rather not tell you and the the two of you could have carried on chatting.
