CJ you're a hero, just tried that after my laptop was stuck in a 12 hours diagnostic loop and you won't believe it, it looks now like it worked!

I'll tell you later, it's updating the system at present. If the machine works again, I'm happy on one hand and on the other it means I've no excuse tomorrow not to do the office work. Ahh there's always a draw back....

If it's updating for a while.. ctrl alt delete and log in again...it won't interrupt the update...

I fucking hate windows with a passion..i had the same problem a number of years ago with windows vista ..ended up downloading a linux os and using this instead..havent gone back to windows since
