Scumbags smashing up cars

Jump to: Newest in thread

My friend's car was smashed to bits by scumbags last night - along with 4 others in the area. He relies on that car for work and he doesn't have much money available to fix it. There seems to be no way to stop these wankers and there's no deterrent either. They know they can get away with it anytime they want.

I would think of myself as a pretty liberal person but when it comes to scumbags who do this shit and get away with it, honestly, prison is too good. They need proper punishment.

Sorry to hear about your workmates bad luck , I’m assuming he’s insured for fire and theft although the pay out will still see him out of pocket . Your absolutely correct that those responsible should be jailed as an example , what a mindless disposable thong to do set alight cars for no reason at all

They just don't see the consequences of their actions - it's the second time it's happened to his car. Mindless vandalism is a killer. There's been so much of it with the bad weather. He is insured yeah but he doesn't want to go on living where he's living now.

I have a friend, young girl. She used to live in Donnybrook, but was never rich. Ended up moving out to Finglas. Has a small child.

When they found out she used to live in Donnybrook they started shouting abuse at her like "snobby cow", they then began to start setting fire to her car.

They vandalised it so much that she couldnt afford insurance anymore and had to get rid of the car...

My grandad is in his 80s, Born in Dublin and lived his whole life in a working class area in Dublin city. It's actually a part of Dublin where people still say there is a community and that they are "the salt of the earth".

After 2/3 strokes he had to be admitted to a home for the rest of his life. Within a week his house was broken into.

People dont give a shit anymore, cause the kids know they wont be living in the area when they grow up.

Really sorry to hear about all of the above. There seems to be no way to control these little bastards, as long as I've lived in Dublin, it's been the curse of the place - so many generations of scumbags.

A few years ago, I wouldn't have agreed with this idea. But I'm thinking nowadays, that it would be an effective deterrent. That, or caning.

Sentencing and punishment in Ireland is too light and jails are too easy. I agree there should be rehabilitation courses on offer in jails but there shouldn't be TVs, PlayStation, great meals (nutritional but not great tasting etc..) they should literally have an empty cell besides books or a newspaper. Another thing is that doing a few months in jail is a badge of honour for these people, they also boast about it to scumbags who haven't done jail and claim they claim they're not "rats" cause they done 6mnths for stealing a car etc.. The deterant isn't enough at the moment to stop this behaviour.

There is no deterrent at all, sure didn't the former taoiseach's nephew get caught stealing from a shop, and the judge threw the case out and he got a scholarship to trinity.

Rich kids have the cases thrown out, and poor kids get community service and a sob story.

Very rarely do people meet some sort of proper justice. Little toe rags dont give a crap.

All the rules just make life harder for people who are good and honest and obey them.

That's it, I live in an area of Limerick where this used to be common but not to the level we've seen the last few days. I hung around groups before they started doing stuff like and jail wasn't a deterrent. They literally boasted about it when they got out after a few weeks of how easy it was. Loads go in weighing 9st and come out a few stone heavier with boxing lessons etc.. It's ridiculous like.

This is the worst of it. They are not interested in being rehabilitated at all - they just re-emerge even worse than when they went in. How are they supposed to get the message ? The proper punishment is never given.

You will find that a lot of this kind of vandalism is done by young people on probation who are awaiting sentence for something bigger and they are going to prison anyway and therefore do as much lawbreaking as possible cos they have been told by their free legal aid solicitor that they are in line for a prison sentence anyway

I guess it makes no odds to them in that case. Perennial problem in Ireland, this.

The courts can't correct the upbringing they've had, probably the spawn of a dole scrounging set of parents who never worked for anything that they have, the state provides everything for them from housing to legal aid , there is no incentive for any of them to bother there arses !

As for what to do with them? I honestly don't know!

I'm just glad I live in the sticks and don't have to deal with it unless they come to my home and then I'll show no mercy!!

I agree, and to the scumbags that stole 300 cans of Red Bull from my local shop,

I don't know how you can sleep at night.
