Its gotten pretty nuts over there. Started looting the place a couple hours ago and its now escalated to stealing a JCB, severe damage to the building, stealing the safe and using the jcb to break it open and then setting the lidl on fire.

Sad thing about it is .people will probably loose their jobs . And the courts... after listening to some well off parasite of a solicitor pleading for them how bad an upbringing drugs etc etc
To get them a suspended sentance.

Theyve already made arrests. I think its more likely they'll be made an example of than get off lightly. No judge is going to lool kindly on diverting emergency services to this crap at a time like this. |

the pic of lidl on fire is an old pic from a different store. they did loot a centra though and set that, and the apartments above on fire. hit a petrol station and a pharmecy, and looted all the cars in the luas car park as well.
few of them dumb enough to post vids and pics on scial media showing their faces and their haul as well. it was well planned though, as the driver knew exactly how to use it. wont find bread in a safe though. |

I know we can't be painted with the one brush but I went out today at 26 and had snowball fights with little kids and built snowmen and walked around limerick and saw an amazing community spirit and pure joy and happiness that I haven't seen in years. When I got home I was almost in tears with laughter scrolling through Facebook watching all the jokes and funny snowmen posts. I was even boasting that the Irish are the funniest people in the world but this shit in Dublin now is what will hit the headlines in Europe. Fucking idiots. |

Did you see the video from the front of the store? They actually collapsed the building! That's 40 people out of work for 6mths most likely. No respect for the people in their own area that likely work there.
Completely agree with you about the bankers. In the UK, most of them got jailed within a year, whereas in good old fiddle de Dee, backhander land, the majority are in even higher paying jobs or got huge golden handshakes.
Still doesn't excuse the behaviour that went on today. |

30 people out of work isn't bad ?. Dublin as one of Europe's top tourist destinations takes a hammering in the international media. My friends mum lives 500 yards up the road from that store and is afraid to leave her home in broad daylight anymore. I really don't get how you can belittle this crime by playing devils advocate. It's upsetting yes, and scary. I doubt this story will be important news in international media and I'm confident Dublin's tourist ratings in Europe will remain high. I'm sorry about your mum's friend being scared, that must be frustrating.

This could b a lot of towns and city's across Ireland ...i work as a bus driver in the city and sometimes see group s of youths of 20 /30/40 hanging around waiting 2 do likes of this...country teetering on this sort of thing for years now... |

However since the Lidl incident in Dublin it’s getting coverage of the looting and vandalism, and the snow is also now getting a mention. |

Crime and dramatic videos will always sell well on tv so hence the expected coverage of it.As for comparing a crime to the bankers and yours numbers not being affected its hardly a good example of one crime vs another crime.What happened last night is absolutely vile,these people have no respect and yes they are 100% scumbags.There is even video's of young toddlers being bought into the store...how messed up is that.Thankfully these scmbags are a minority and the majority of people have shown superb community spirit in recent days with the cold snap. Being from citywest it's my local Lidl. It's an absolute disgrace. Nothing but dragged up pieces of shit. They should be publicly shamed when caught up with. I've woken up this morning to plenty of posts on Facebook with friends naming and shaming looters and those who caused damage. I for the life of me hope they get what they deserve. Army/guards shooting last night would have been fully justified, some of the little rags don't deserve a heartbeat.

One of the first thoughts that went through my head after seeing them wreck the lidls with the jcb, was there is a few peoples jobs gone.
They are absolute low life's, should be named and shamed, with their faces plastered all over social media.

Very simple. Anyone who is caught. Lock them up for 6 months and have them do hard labour in the community all chained together. Then take away ALL welfare benefits should they we in receipt for ever!

They might if they are lucky be offered redeployment, which most staff might not be able to get to, and therefore job gone! It will take ages to reopen if it does at all! I bet they won't reopen. |

Just seen there that 25 cars were burnt out in Dublin last night too. 25 fucking cars.... I know people who cycle to work 10-15km everyday either in the freezing cold and rain or heatwaves saving every penny for a car and then you've thugs that do that. |

I really wanna know how many convictions these fools already have and why they are out on the street still.As for giving them a job as punishment,ive discussed that several times with people and apprently they are so thick they would cut the hand off themselves if given any instrument at all and then sue the state.There should be special court hearings held instantly and these thugs fucked into jail instantly...cut their dole and deprive them of any tv or luxeries whilst they are in jail.The justice system and jails arent hard enough on these guys,take away all freedom from them make them feel vunerable and deprived and if they complain then give them another month in the place. |

On their Twitter account this afternoon, Lidl confirmed that they will be "paying staff and redeploying to other stores in the area" until the store is reopened. |
