Regardless of the situation re border, partition, whatever, this is an Island and country in its own right. We are not just an offshoot of another island. If anything where to be our mainland it would be Europe, but that would be just as silly. |

But mainland Europe Is actually referred to as MAINLAND Europe when not including the UK ? Like I said my colleagues in Northern Ireland have all referred at some time or other to the UK as mainland whether that be in a work capacity or not. I don’t believe anyone says it in the capacity of NI being some sort of subsidiary or as a derogatory comment about Northern Ireland.
And if anyone has taken some sort of offence at me saying “mainland” then I apologise as it was not intentional. |
