Hi all sorry this isnt fab related, but need advice.
I’ve finally stopped smoking after 30 yrs, I’m determined to stay off them, family history and all that, I’ve even started back to the gym and using the intermittent diet. Ive been good more or less all week did the weight in tonight and im a bit gutted at weight gain. Anyone who’s stopped what did you do stop the weight gain. Any advice is welcome. |

Don't worry about a weigh gain first week keep at it the losses will come good on you giving up the smokes. Don't listen to muscle weighs more than fat a lb is a lb but being toned you will lose inches... Good luck |

High-intensity interval training ( HIIT)
The only way if you are stock at certain weight.

Tom Kerridge latest book has some brilliant recipes and only £9 on Amazon. Worth a try.
Congratulations on getting off the smokes
Not sure what method you used but still may be worth reading Alan Carr easyway as most report no/small weight gain with that |

Replace all fizzy drinks with water for good. Don't drink fruit smoothies (just eat the fruit) walk as much as possible. Chew gum when you want a fag instead of snacking. No major changes there but over time they'll make a difference. Tougher changes then - start lifting weights with your cardio,HIIT, join a tag Rugby team or dance classes etc... And to be fair sometimes people don't lose any weight but look alot better, the weight can end up better distributed. |

I heard on the radio that Ireland now has more quitters than smokers. Great to hear. I can't stand it and see no positives of it but I'm not a nagger. All my previous partners smoked (kinda strange since I really dislike it haha) |

Using the patch, as the gum broke my mouth out in ulcers, stopping hasn’t annoyed me in the slightest had the odd craving but if I engage the brain on other things it removes the notion. Just didn’t realise how much the smoking actually suppressed the appetite. As a mature lady on here my metabolism is starting to slow down which doesn’t help trying to loose the weight. Only for the gym I’d be lost, as my job entails I’m on my arse most of the day looking at a computer screen. Lifting weights, started spin classes, and walking-jogging. Still gutted though. |

Na overtime all that will pay off. You're doing everything as you should. Eventually it comes to fruition |

You are doing very well there ,
Impressive effort
You may consider some supplements , green tea extract , L carnitine to help convert fat to energy . Proper diet and you are there in no time .

I went from 15.5 stone to 12 stone with no exercise in a year by just careful eating. You are on the right track with itermittent fasting btw!
But the first thing that I would suggest is INVEST in seeing an allergy specialist, recommended by a doctor or a local pharmacy. They will cost anywhere between £50-£100 and worth every penny, but go for the 1 consultation only as you can work the rest put for yourself. They will tell you what foods don't agree with you, then you can make a realistic diet plan.
A lot of people in Ireland are allergic to dairy & wheat/yeast. So dairy products and bread don't have much nutitional value for most of us and are HIGH IN CALORIES.
So my diet consisted of:
BREAKFAST (11am) - Porridge, honey, cinammon and various fruits to mix it up a bit.
LUNCH (3pm)- Homemade vegetable soup or an omlette.
DINNER (7pm) - Meat/Fish/Chicken veg and potaoes.
NB
- All food consumed with in 8 hours.
- Avoid as much as you can, refined sugar.
- Cut out bread, rice and pasta.
- No snacking in between meals.
- Drink lots of water in between meals as it helps with hunger cravings, after a while you will adjust.
- Keep to the same eating hours as much as you can.
- If you wanna get faster results, walk for 30 mins on an empty stomach as the body then gets energy from fat stored in your body!
- Take a high strength multi-vitamin tablet.
Hope this helps!
Best of luck |
