It's a more benign form of contact that chatting. Problem with it is if you are outside their age range you can't wink back. Can be good to initiate a conversation too |

I rarely, if ever look at winks. And it's funny because I nearly put up this same topic earlier. I got a message from someone that was annoyed I hadn't responded to their wink and I thought, do people put more stock in winks than I do? I prefer to receive a message if someone is interested. |

We very rarely look at winks, i understand some people find it easier to wink than send a message but they are pointless if they are never checked. We may never know if a person is interested cause we dont check everyone we recieve |

I disabled wink notifications, because I think it's a weak introduction. To me, it's 1 step removed from the ol' classic 'hi' message. Would rather the initial contact, be something engaging, that I can respond to. |

Isnt winkin Just a lazy way of contacting people? But than again if you wink at me chances are I won't wink back not because i not interested but mainly because i rarely look at mine
I tried winkin for a bit and just found it boring. It more exciting to write a message to someone . That my opinion anyways. |

I never seen them, even when I had notifications of them on, and when I did, it was always a day or 2 later. I can understand it, if the person isn't a site supporter, and they want to catch your attention, but I agree with the OP; a message is better to get going. Even more so, if a person's profile is new, and not much to go on. |

For the single females , they really dont need to wink as their mails alone , they can pick who interests them , but on another note , we see it here all the time that single females bulk delete too so really its a no win , no point in winking and prob no point in mailing either from a single male point , but for us we do wink as its a way of saying we like what we see , defo not a lazy way to do it as trying to say that in a introductry mail may seem we are comming on too strong in my opinion , we defo have had alot of sucess from winks and will continue to wink

Wink is only a first impression to someone profile , if you get a wink back you may expect a smooth conversation. That mean both sides read the profile and are interested .
I totally don’t see it as laziness.
But some here expect stories as a first message and they won’t even thank you for the effort . |

Yeah your right . Suppose it 50/50 so it works for some people and not for others . I personally just never notice my winks . Might start paying more attention to them.
Do u wink back if interested or do you just message the person? |

When I get winked at I reply with a message. But usually don't hear back from the person. Winking seems like a waste of time. .
I wink to show the other person I'm interested and if they wink back I would message that person. |

If we get a wink back we will then mail them and say hello and tell why we winked , why their profile caught our attention and take it from there,

If you're a guy you should really check winks.
A lot of women and couples are never ever gonna write the first message. It's just like smiling at you across a room.
Get up and go over if you're interested, if not keep sitting down.
And sure, people have winked at me and I message them and they dont even read the message, but so what. A wink does not mean you're gonna get laid. It's just a wink. A lot of winks will turn into full conversations, specially if its a woman winking a man. |

"Does winking really work? When you wink at someone do they messsge you?
Would it not be easier to message them?
Thoughts "
Very rarely do we get a reply from a wink |

You could both wink or message someone and still get no reply or even get your message read. So by just winking it shows your interested in them and if they wink back then message them. It is easier to wink for intial contact then take it from there rather than message them and they dont even check it. Only thing is you dont kniw if they looked at or checked the winks. That's my thoughts on it anyway. |

"You fine people have convinced me to try 'the wink game'. I've deleted the 'no winking' line, from my profile, and turned on, notifications. To be continued..."
Haha let us know how you get on |
