"I would rather poke my eyes out than go see them"

Hear hear ...... they have had their time in the sun .... and then some. It is - and HAS been all very yawn for a long time now. In my opinion if they were an unknown band they would not be getting anywhere near the same amount of publicity.

Time to pass that baton on lads ...... all the new and upcoming fantastic bands here could do with some of that air time.

Next please!!!

I’d pull my blinds if they were playing outside my window!

In fairness everyones music tastes are different ..I for one do like U2 and think that they have varied the type of music they have played and released over the decades shows what a good great band they are ..

And yes Bono might be a dick ..but i think that has nothing to do with the music U2 play..imo

I like some of their songs, not all..

U2 have had some of the biggest concerts all over the world, 108,800 at Stadium Azteca in Mexico City, are still selling out wherever they play, not bad i would say..

I go as far as turning the radio off in the car every time they come on.

The fact that only around 1% of the money from his red charity went to its intended charities a few years back, makes my blood boil.

This coming from some one who we already know, avoids paying taxes over here...

What a stupid comment. You are well within your rights to not like them, but why should they pass the batton and to whom? It's not a relay, if other bands are good enough they will get their day in the sun through hard work just like U2 did. And the sun is still shining on U2 so they continue to make hay.

And what do you mean of they were an unknown band they wouldn't get the publicity! Duh, what a stupid thing to say and it makes no sense. They are one of the biggest bands in the world.... EVER, and that Is a fact based on raw hard evidence of album and concert sales and has nothing to do with narrow minded opinions. so of course they attract publicity.

they still produce great music, put on fantastic shows and sell out world wide.

NaughtyVille *×* Laois

Lifelong fan

Seen them last year in Croke Park

Loved the gig (though much preferred Noel Gallagher that night as support)

Do i honestly want to see them this year again?

Not really no, kind of feel its more just about quantity than quility now with U2. Definitely think they are lost with where they wanna be musically.

And as one poster has already said we would rather support some of the amaxing new talent in the country now.

Show me one creditable source where you plucked that from.... nothing to do with their concerts or music either. People giving the band shit when really they are the hypocrits

Firstly I will say this, when Bono preaches - it’s a nightmare to listen to!

Now as for the band, most of their music is absolutely brilliant (yes even their new stuff is great) and when it comes to puttting on a show they really give it their all! The tickets are indeed pricey but the costs of the production must be astronomical! Those stages, lighting, crew cost a lot of money!!

I went and seen Eddie Vedder in Dublin and Cork! The ticket for the 3Arena gig was €90+ and that was not a ‘platinium, gold or silver ticket). His production consisted of a chair and white coat! It was a great gig and I enjoyed it but my point is this - rock concerts in big venues aren’t cheap!

I was never a U2 fan, just did nothing for me. And while Bono is, well.....Bono, I can see why people wouldn't pay to see them.

But as a music lover, I find it odd that people would disregard a band's hard work and achievements just because of the singer's personality.

I don't like their music, and you may not like their music either but clearly they're not a shit band.

And yes, I know fame and success doesn't equal good, but c'mon, you don't get as big as U2 if you don't have 'it'.

As far as tickets go, they've become like a social status item as many people, not all, just want them because everyone else wants them, leaving genuine fans without.

while its fashionable to knock U2 (for some reason!) I seen them last week and they were brilliant

few bands have been doing it as long as them and still releasing fresh, good music rather than trading off old hits

Their last two albums have been some of best songs they've ever released in my view

Bono undoubtedly divides opinion - but they are still the biggest band in the world - theres no one to hand that baton to right now!

music taste is subjective - so each to their own, but Ive seen countless bands live over the years and U2's live shows are head and shoulders above 99% of other live acts out there

I saw them in slane the last time they played there. Simply because I think if you’re a music fan they’re a band you should see at least once. I won’t be going to see them again. I found them very dull and not engaged with the crowd at all.
