night owl

Sleep has never been my friend.... I'm never tired when I should be i.e. the night time. It's a combination of always (even when I was a kid) having trouble sleeping and spending my 20's and most of my 30's working and hanging out in bars.

I'm a much quieter boy these days but alas I still struggle with sleep. I'm embracing it and doing an online course to enhance my skills in my line of work.

Any other night owls out there that have never had a proper sleep routine?

I never have any problem sleeping.

But, I suppose I could be considered a night owl because I spend alot of time in a different time zone.

I start work at 6.45 every morning. Monday to Friday. In bed most night by 9.30. Read a book for an hour all going well and the drift off. How exciting. Weekend arrives, stay up late. It goes by in a flash. Man I wish it was 1996 sometimes.

Ah I've given up. I'm just embracing it now ride the dark wave and all that haha, You said you work night shifts that sucks balls.... I know how rough that is on life.

Ireland is not a country for living by the night, I used to live in Toronto and that city was awake day and night so you could get out and live even if it was 5am when you got off work. I used to finish a 3am go for coffee and drinks with friends and actually have a social life :/

I worked shift for 15 years. It's much easier when you are younger I work days now and start early by choice as when the summer comes around it's worth starting an hour two earlier to benefit from the break in the evening. Especially on Friday when you don't work weekends. I just find that as you get older the Weekend's and time in general just flies.

You can't wait to be a teenager, then 18 and then 21. It takes ages. All of a sudden you wake up and you are the big four oh.

Toronto is huge in comparison to Tralee and Limerick. Different cultures different people. At least you got to experience it.

We could easily have something similar if we adopted the some of the Spanish culture when it comes to socialising.

I'd honestly be raging with myself if I slept pat 10am at the weekends. It probably sounds so sad but it has become a force of nature after 15 years on shift.

I spend most weekends during the summer not far from Tralee. Over the last year the work in the town has been superb. Pedestrians dream.

I can remember back in the 90's traveling down from Limerick to the Brandon. It used to be rocking. The town is virtually dead now after midnight which is so unfortunate.

Shift work has done that to you. I speak from experience. If you ever get the opportunity to go on all days then take. Loss of shift allowance can't even begin to compare to a decent nights sleep and a life that you forgot existed.

Yeah, it's a weird one, the town is happy to be the commerical centre of Kerry and to leave Killarney to be the tourist and entertainment centre, their is siamsa tire that could easily double up as a great music venue but they don't want to bring anything beyond traditional there. I go back to Cork when I need my fix of live loud music and then I get the fuck outta there back to my house and my mountains and my beaches

From Limerick mate. Love Kerry. Have a go to in North Kerry. Love it. Relaxed way of live. Away from home, the hassle, the drama. Much more of a community there. Nicer people. More open and honest.

Hitting the hay. Have a good one and thanks for the chat.

"Night owl....tried sleeping but wide awake

Ah I've given up. I'm just embracing it now ride the dark wave and all that haha, You said you work night shifts that sucks balls.... I know how rough that is on life.

Ireland is not a country for living by the night, I used to live in Toronto and that city was awake day and night so you could get out and live even if it was 5am when you got off work. I used to finish a 3am go for coffee and drinks with friends and actually have a social life :/

It's a good city allright.

Yeah Toronto and Edinburgh are by far the best cities I lived in, not that I lived in many mind you. You travel a lot yeah?

Quite a lot.I spend a bit of time in Canada.

Nice a job that involves travel always sounds great but maybe it's a pain?

It has good and bad points. Hard to beat home.

Home Sweet Home....plus I'm here

I'm on my way...... Home Sweet Home

Motley Crue

Oi...no trying to steal her away "

I should be so lucky.

My favourite band back on my teenage years. Had to call it out.

Toronto is huge in comparison to Tralee and Limerick. Different cultures different people. At least you got to experience it.

We could easily have something similar if we adopted the some of the Spanish culture when it comes to socialising.

That is a very good point don't get me wrong I love living in the countryside now, I'm a bit outside Tralee and this is 100% where I want to be but adopting a bit more of a late night culture as you say would be great

Where are you from?

From Limerick mate. Love Kerry. Have a go to in North Kerry. Love it. Relaxed way of live. Away from home, the hassle, the drama. Much more of a community there. Nicer people. More open and honest.

Hitting the hay. Have a good one and thanks for the chat."

No bother dude, if you're down my way let me know could meet up for a drink or something

Sleep well
