Just been to the dental hygienist and my teeth and gums are feeling so much better; but, as all services companies try to do these days, they wanted to sell me other things - like teeth whitening.

Anyone ever get their teeth whitened..? I’ve heard it hurts and you have to keep doing it once you start..?

It's a con I think just as long as you have nice clean teeth that all that matters . None of those toothpastes work to make your teeth white. One crowd give you paint to put on them lol

What type of method of whitening are they using? Yes it can be very painful and the pain can last a long time...

Kilkenny, but Dublin is more fun

As an avid coffee drinker, my teeth tend to get stained every now and then, but baking soda works a charm.

Don't think it's a con and some people's teeth can get discoloured for various reasons, medication, lifestyle, accidents when younger etc.. it's not about keeping them clean and some methods do work...

Yep laser whitening every six months.. Not expensive and not painful at all. A little sensitive after but that's my norm.

There’s two types they are offering - intensive in the clinic or a home solution where you self treat.

In fairness they did say the teeth would be sensitive after due to the process removing oxygen from the teeth..

Ways you can naturally whiten your teeth, while also protecting enamel, include using apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide; coconut oil pulling; eating a healthy diet; brushing and flossing; and trying activated charcoal, copied from a page but I believe it’s a better way then going to the dentist .

I’m actually on the charcoal and it works perfect

Good luck

I would advise anyone to try these methods first... I wouldn't be running to try laser or chemical methods first...

I beg to differ... depending on the type of teeth you have and the method of whitening used can depend on the sensitivity afterwards...

Dunboyne & Dublin

Arm & Hammer do the baking soda toothpaste, if you want to try it. My dentist told me to stop using whitening toothpaste as I have sensitive teeth but I see now that Sensodyne have one that's supposed to do both whitening and sensitivity.

DC advice above looks interesting though
