It's been requested numerous times but just ignored for some reason. There's a few who don't like the idea of NI having its own. I think it be a very good idea a useful addition for those who live here.
Maybe suggest it in the official suggestion forum. |

That might be due to the way the irish one can often be very negative and white knightish. I've chatted with many who won't venture on it for fear of being jumped on both male and female. Its predominately southern controlled. Maybe having a more localised one might help in that department. As a blow in I can see the southern and northern is quite humour different too. |

It might just cause more bigotry than already exists but if ignored it may peater out and settle down to a useful local forum and get used to more local debates and banter. May help locals get to know each other better too. |

Why would we want to fragment further a scene that isn't massive. Exclusion isn't healthy. I live in north east not far from border. I interact with folks in cork and Fermanagh. Borders albeit cyber ones ain't fun |

I think the fabbing population of both North and South wouldn't warrant a seperate forum. At times the Ireland forum is tumble quiet, like my inbox! I think having a forum for Northern Ireland and one for Eire would dilute traffic far too much to make them successful. |

We only a small country as it is. I cannot see any benefit having a Northern Ireland forum. Nothing stopping us Northerners participating here and a lot do, myself included

"A Northern Ireland forum is needed I think as much as I enjoy chatting to everyone on this island a Northern Ireland only forum would open more opportunities for meets " how when uve alienated yourself from a proportion of the population. Why sit in a room with three people when uve more craic in a room with 20.

On another note, I stay quite a bit in the north but cant seem to find how to search the counties. I can change the settings to Northern Ireland and then BT postcode (the only option), but cant search individual counties, like Fermanagh etc.... Is this an option or not? |

"I thought swinging was about breaking down borders. Why put one up?
"
This.
Why would you want to segregate and have less responses?
People don't have the time to be viewing multiple different forums!
Check the amount of UK people getting involved in Ireland forums. Not bad.
Segregation would not bring any obvious benefits, unless you would like to name one? |

Its bad enough having to change location between UK and Ireland to view profiles a few miles away.
Two forums is just overload and unnecessary. No one is stopping anyone from posting.
There are plenty of posts from north and south of the border on here. Maybe those that want a seperate one could contribute more here and that may encourage more local activity.

Is that the same segregation that happens in prisons? |

I see the southerners are the baddies that prevent some shy northerners from posting on the Irish forum.... Seriously?!?! what a lot of nonsense. |

Not really but those inside often cannot see what's happening around them.
who said their all baddies, I said there are some and why are the northerners shy? I know alot of southerners who won't join in for the same reasons as you yourself know so well. What makes it nonsense? That you prefer to ignore the issues? |

Where is this idea of segregation coming from? The only segregation seems to be in the minds of those against the suggestion, certainly not in those who have suggested it and made so helpful contributing comments.
Your comment about people not having time for different forums and then stating how many from the UK get involve in the irish one disolves ur first argument. There are many forums on fab and I'd say any one involved moves from one to another without any extra loss of time.
I think as another mentioned that it could bring more locals into the forums in general by have a local one and that can only be a good thing for everyone, North, south, Scotland , England and Wales.

For those who think there aren't many forums and it causes segregation have a look outside the Irish one beyond your boarders , Scotland, Wales and even London have their own and many of us use them even some of the Irish
Canada has a dedicated one for a handful of people and only have 3 posts on it. They must feel it's worth it in some ways. |

Northern Ireland should have its own one for sure. They don't show up in Irish search I don't think, or UK search cause too far away.
So would be good for them to have a little forum of their own.
Maybe if they bring in hard borders they will get their own section. |

"Post Brexit the occupied six counties may need its own forum and some food parcels and rations when Britain cuts off the free money.
"
Why drag politics into it?
Personally we don't care if Northern Ireland has its own section or not and we live here.
The sad thing on here is how some are twisting it to generate an argument.
Would it be called the Northern Ireland, North of Ireland or the Occupied 6 Counties?
Personally there are more important things to worry about. One of them is just having fun.

That's what it read like to me.
There will always be those who won't join a forum because they don't like the exposure - my opinion, but if you prefer you can call it 'ignoring the issues'.
I don't believe that a regional scene can be easier/better organised by having their own forum, but sure if you think that's the recipe.... |

I don't think OP was trying to be political with his thread but it has turned into a thread that's heading that direction
If there was a thread for the north and south I would use both....
All OP was suggesting that there maybe more opportunities to meet people closer to him if there was a local forum ....

Far too much of this in the irish forum. Just ugly in its best light.
Goading never was attractive and it's only used to incite trouble and tries to prolong issues that many have laid to rest.
Too much negativity by so many. |

I thought this would be a decent thread, only to see people giving their opinions to something irrelevant!
Trump isn’t building a wall on the border, don’t worry, we won’t see some dublin couple on the news leaping over the wall, diving through barb wire and getting chased by guard dogs, attempting to get the leg over with some fella from Banbridge!
So back to the point at hand,
Who’s up for some fun around Lough Neagh this evening? We can make it risky but I can’t promise guard dogs and helicopters chasing us. |

"
Why do people make it so tribal when it's not?"
Surely its more tribal to have a small section of a larger group split off into its own group, to cut off people a mile away due to a line drawn on a map?
People merely bring up a hard border because that would make the line on the map a line in the ground, and surely fabswingers would try and help that community then. |

But to answer your question.... No. No clubs, but quite a few m&g socials and parties. There's a couple happening in Jan and another in Feb. Usual venues areas are Belfast, Derry, Letterakenny and Portadown.
Hope that helps. |
