Sounds perfect to me Pony.

Look after those that believe first and then priceless, homemade knick knacks for the rest.

One year I made olives for every house in my family. Each jar was tailored to what I knew they liked. One jar was olives with garlic n herbs n oil, other was garlic, chillies and pepper, etc, etc. They all loved them and the customisation was really appreciated. It's simple, thoughtful things

I hate the fake happiness. Daughter of an alcoholic I have no happy Christmas memories, just fear and disappointment.

I have my own family now and we make Christmas special we have started our own traditions. But the adverts and stuff about Christmas being a magical family time for all makes me very sad and I am always thinking of people who are not as fortunate as me. Interesting I like Christmas more now that I admit why I hate it. I feel no pressure to be merry.... I even bought a Christmas jumper this year.. And a santa dress.

Having worked in hotels and pubs for my adult life it's the worst time of year. Not just because it's so busy, it's when all the amateur drinkers are out. Don't know what they want to drink, how to order it or worst of all take 10 minutes to order a round of 6 drinks. Annoying.

Then the crowd who only get into town once a year and don't know how to behave themselves, puking all over the streets, and in the pub(not just in the toilets) and just being a general hazard.

How many people take the time to think of the hotel/barman who works these long hours and cleans up or deals with the crap over Christmas?

A guy walks into a bar orders 5 shots of whisky, the barman asks is everything ok, the guy says my brother just came out as gay and is marrying my best friend. The next day the same guy comes into the bar and orders 7 shots of whisky, whats wrong, says the barman, my son just informed me he's gay says the man. The next day the same guy walks into the bar and orders 10 shots of whisky, does anyone in your family like women asked the barman. Apparently my wife does said the guy

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I have felt pressure some years trying to put together the money to get the things my daughter wanted.

You have your priorities right. Worry about your kid and then small things for anyone else close is more than enough. It truly is the thought that counts.

Yep, I tend to find that those who matter don't expect anything extravagant, they just appreciate thoughtfulness no matter what the present is or even how small.

To add to the list. Christmas shopping and crowds. Does my f**king head in. People just get in my way in every shop or stand chatting to someone else on front of the section I am trying to get at. But then I hate shopping in general. I try to do all of mine online and have it delivered to my front door. So much less stress and hassle.

I also hate Christmas music, especially when it starts playing two months beforehand.

And yeah I also hate people pretending to be happy.

People talk about how we should be nice because it's Christmas.

Ummmmm no. If I think someone is a c**t then that person is a c**t and shall remain so in my eyes, Christmas or not. No pretence here. Lol

I'm sorry for those bad experiences you had as a kid growing up. The true meaning of Christmas for me is really about the kids and also being charitable to those who are less well off.

I'm glad though that over time you have started to develop your own Christmas traditions with those closest to you.

I hate it myself that some people pretend to be nice just because it's Christmas. I will never pretend. If I don't like someone or get on with them then that won't change just because it happens to be Christmas (or not).

Understandable that it can be a nightmare for staff during the Christmas period but hey this is what they are being paid for and hopefully the extra pay for working Christmas plus tips compensates for the extra hassle.

Yes, this is what I hate about Christmas. Now, what me and my siblings do is instead of buying each other presents we put money together and then donate it all to a charity of our choosing which we find is in line with the true meaning of Christmas, goodwill to others, especially those less well off. I just hate the whole consumer aspect and fakeness and artificiality.

It also does start way too early. Getting ridiculous now.

I like the dinner, and the time off to catch up with people.

I hate the bullshit concept of Christmas.

I hate the 2 month build up to it.

I hate most of the stupid repetitive music, year after year, everywhere ya go, for weeks. (There are odd songs i can accept)

I hate any holiday that pressures people into buying gifts. I'm not scabby, I love getting people gifts, just I prefer to do it when I see stuff I know they would like or I think about the person rather than "I got you this because I had to".

I hate the fake cheer and joy which for people who are struggling or vulnerable can amplify their problems, not distract from them.

I do commend the people who embrace the idea of "Christmas spirit" and help those in need, be homeless, sick elderly or just less well off people, but again we shouldn't need an superficial reason to do that either.

At the same time have a good one everybody
